It's a tribute to all of the Grindhouse films in the 70s and 80s. Even if you've never seen any exploitation movies, you should still get a kick out of it.

Just wait for the director's cut on DVD. They had to hack away at that movie to get it to an R rating - it'll be worth waiting.

I'm gonna go see it.... I sold them some cars that are in the movie. One of the cars was a NICE 72 Nova 350/4 speed. They told me that they gutted the interior, installed a rollcage, and painted the car black. Kind of a shame to see it get torn up. The other cars they said were used for collision scences and doubles so they were totaled by the end of the taping.

Hey I just caught Planet Terror for the first time tonite on cable.
Not too shabby. He did a nice job of dating the film and its editing style to look like 70's drive-in crap. Willis had a nice cameo too. Pretty cool.

I've seen Death Proof twice. The car sequences barely make-up for all the mindless bullshit dialogue between those chicks that fuckn goes on forever in some scenes.

I want to see the car chase one, I saw the other one last week, it was pretty well done for what QT was trying for. The man is an artist for sure.

You have to be in the drive-in movie mindset to appreciate it though.
