View Full Version : Got yelled at for talking politics at work
A guy I work with and I were talking smack about Obama and a Leutenant Colonel walked by and gave me a piece of his mind. Apparently he's an Obama fan. :o

I was told we are at work to protect democracy not practice it. But not sure why he would be upset that his troops are trying to stay up to date and discussing current events.

This guy is not even in my chain of command. We talk politics all the time here at work, but we aren't obnoxious about it. We must've just said something that really irked him.

tell that person to fuck off (if it won't get you arrested) then tell them you are there to protect freedom of speech too. then have fun peeling potatoes for 6 months!
if you vote, you should be allowed to voice your opinion no matter what.
maybe that guy just had sandy vaginer symdrome.

Technically, we're not supposed to discuss topics at work that could possibly offend or intrude on one's beliefs.

....its pretty standard practice to avoid discussing religion or politics at work. Regardless of where you work. SG

standard practice? Is that written somewhere...nope. I've never worked a job where you could'nt talk about such things.

Obama would be the destructional end of this country if he was elected. I would rather have Hillary x73289432 over him, which is saying a lot.

Not me...I'd rather see Hilary assassinated as POTUS than Obama...because if elected, either one of them would be shot.

Written somewhere? Probably not.
Common courtesy and common sense? Definately.
If you spout off about something that one of the higher ups feels strongly about and he or she finds out about it, you are probably fired.
You have a right to talk about whatever you want. They have the right to not have to hear it in the workplace.

That's how I feel about it. There are some people who can't live without the drama though.
Tell the LC you wouldn't give the sweat off the crack of your a$$ for his political opinion.
Let me guess, he flys a desk.

as much as i dislike president bush and disagree with his policies i would never think or say that i wanted him to be assassinated or physically harmed.
that's one of the most immature statements i have read yet in this political forum.
and now i know that you could not possible defend any accusations of being a right wing radical.
Please let me Correct it for him: FUCK HILLARY, SHE'S A SKANK ASS LIBERAL!!!

Show me where I said I wanted them assassinated, fuck tard. I'm FAR from a right wing radical. It is just my honest opinion that if either one of them were elected, one of the nutjob, NRA card carrying members in this country would pop one of them. Hopefully neither of them get elected so I don't have to prove you wrong.

I don't see the word "want" anywhere in that post. I said, because I believe either of them would be popped, that I'd rather see Hilary go than Obama. Learn to read and comprehend...gets you far in life.

Oh man that's terrible. While you were face to face with him why didn't you just tell him he was a fucktard, or an idiot, or a moron or something? Maybe he just didn't realize that you were a "select" member of DFWStangs. You gonna be OK?

I'll be alright...but I'm not about to call someone that high above me any name except "Colonel (insert last name here)" or "sir".
I just thought it was goofy. We keep Fox News on at least one TV all day long and discuss politics frequently. This Lt Colonel has heard it before, but I think I struck a chord when I was badmouthing Obamadinejad...and that's exactly what I said when he snapped his head in my direction and said "Excuse me son?" with this look here --->

i don't see "want" either, but i do see someone actually typing that he would "rather" see a democratic presidential candidate assassinated.
that's fucked up. period.
those are exactly the type of comments that radicals make.
i dislike bush probably as much or more than any of you dislike a liberal democrat, but i would never use that term towards president bush or any other republican candidate.
that's outrageous and it just reveals the ignoble mentality of the person using the comment in any context.
I used the word "rather" in the context that it is my belief that if elected, either one of them would be assassinated. It has nothing to do with them being democrats, it has to do with one being black and one being a woman. This country is not ready for either a black or a woman (or a black woman) POTUS, period. If you can sit and deny the fact that there are enough crazy people in this country with assault rifles, high range rifles, and other rifles they probably should not have, then you're living in a shell and/or are in denial. To say "rather" does not imply that I want one of them assassinated, because I would never wish that upon anyone. Could my choice of words have been better? Probably; but I didn't intend for it to come across that I wanted one of them assassinated. That would make me a crazy person, which I'm not.

I think assassinating American leaders has gone out of style. Lucky for BUSH/CHENEY. And with the exception of Squeaky Frome, I have never thought it was "disgruntled nuts" that did the shooting anyway. And I don't call em a "conspiracy". I call em a power play "plan". Now they just "swift boat" them. McCain is next.

O-M-G...I...like...can't even believe you totally just said you want McCain to be assassinated...that is like...totally wrong.... :D
Isn't it fun when things you say get taken completely out of context? At least you know what point I was getting at.

I did see your point. The new name for assissanated is "swift boated". And I see the same notorius gang from his own party getting ready to "git" McCain. Didn't they already do that once?
