I'm sure this will piss some people off, but I couldn't help myself. I had to post it because I have seen a couple of these responses almost verbatim since I've been active in the political forum.
"The Rules of Conservative Correctness"
1) if anyone disagrees with you, they are a "Democrat."
2) if anyone argues with you, they are a "Liberal."
3) if they argue with you and actually present data (formerly known as
"debating"), shrug it off as "propaganda from the Liberal Media."
4) if you cannot rebut the argument pick on details such as
misspellings, improper punctuation or taglines.
5) If your opponent has an unrefutable argument, change the subject.
6) if your opponent consistently overturns your "correct" stories (anything
told by Rush Limbaugh), use ad hominem attacks.
7) anyone who puts life over profits is a "tree hugger."
8) anyone who refutes or debates "correct" science (Creationism, Ecological
Stability) is a "sky-is-falling" reactionary.
9) anyone who opposes the melding of religion and government is one of the
"liberals" who helped create the rampant immorality today.
10) any federal program created by a Democrat, or that "looks" Democratic is
"socialistic."
11) dismantling programs and restrictions on spending then sending the money
to states as a "block grant" is better than having a standardized Federal
program with rules.
12) giving tax money to People is "enslaving them," giving tax money to
Corporations is "making jobs."
13) anything that does not turn a profit for private corporations is "an
elitist" operation.
14) always take everything personally.
15) whatever your weakness is, blame it on your opponent.
16) the more narrow and prejudiced your sources, the more you project that
onto your opponent.
17) when your opponent attacks a Republican/conservative President's
policies, blame them on a Democratic Congress (or vice versa).
18) when quoting your opponent, edit his words to conform to "correctness."
19) anyone who reads anything beyond "the Limbaugh Letter" is an "ivory
tower intellectual."
20) when all else fails, lie.

That's actually debatable, not that I care to, but neither is the "spend a bunch and steal the rest" White House or it's supporting suckers. Course, no doubt stealing us blind is for the greater good and if we give it up we won't have to be so skeered. ;)

"The Rules of Conservative Correctness"
1) if anyone disagrees with you, they are a "Democrat."
2) if anyone argues with you, they are a "Liberal."
Number One and Number Two are the same......
3) if they argue with you and actually present data (formerly known as
"debating"), shrug it off as "propaganda from the Liberal Media."
First off, it's a known FACT that the majority of the mainstream media slants to the left. They report with a huge slant. For example...alot of us have actually admitted that Fox News isn't unbiased, BUT I've NEVER heard a SINGLE Liberal admit that most of the newspapers, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, and CBS are all unfair. Another thing, is even when Fox News is biased, it's the commentators(IE: Bill O' Reilly, John Gibson, Alan Colmes, Sean Hannity, etc.) that show their bias, whereas with those other networks/newspapers it's not just the commentators that show their bias, it's also the journalist that show their bias. Fox News reports all of the news and at the very most will report the news and give their opinions whereas the other networks/papers will report what they think will promote their ideology, even if they have to omit certain facts that makes the liberal side of the equation look bad. There have actually been studies to PROVE this.
4) if you cannot rebut the argument pick on details such as
misspellings, improper punctuation or taglines.
I don't really do that, but one should ATLEAST try to have good grammar.
5) If your opponent has an unrefutable argument, change the subject.
"Refutable"? Sorry, couldn't resist. I see Liberals do the same all the time. Just watch Bill O' Reilly, Liberals try and change the subject on him all the time, but he steers them right back in.
6) if your opponent consistently overturns your "correct" stories (anything
told by Rush Limbaugh), use ad hominem attacks.
And again, you admit that you get your "news" from the very biased mainstream media. Not to mention, you have a habit of "hearing what you want to hear" when it comes to news stories. IE: The President saying that Saddam and Al Qaeda are undistinguishable as terrorists, and you taking it as the President saying that Saddam supported Al Qaeda.
7) anyone who puts life over profits is a "tree hugger."
No, I'm a self-admitted "tree hugger" and I can tell you that the reason Conservatives have animousity for environmentalists is because they typically value plants and animals over other humans, and because alot of them attack you in the worse way if you don't subscribe to their belief system. IE: The fact that people call you an idiot if you don't believe that Global Warming is completely manmade.
8) anyone who refutes or debates "correct" science (Creationism, Ecological
Stability) is a "sky-is-falling" reactionary.
The ironic thing about people who lean so much on science have yet to figure out that science isn't perfect, and that previous scientific theories are proven wrong all the time. Accoding to scientists, there was supposed to be an ice age. According to scientists, Darwin's evolution theory is the FACTUAL theory of the universe when as time goes on, more and more holes are punched in that theory. Scientists also thought that the world was flat, and that the earth was the center of the solar system.
9) anyone who opposes the melding of religion and government is one of the
"liberals" who helped create the rampant immorality today.
Well..... it's true in a way. Ever since we took religion out of school, and tried to make things overly secular in an effort to not offend people, immorality has become rampant in this country. It just so happens that it was liberal judges who brought this upon the country. The ironic thing is that none of you liberals know what "Seperation of Church and State" REALLY meant. Seperation of Church and State was meant to keep the Government out of Religion, not the other way around. Infact, the founding Fathers often said that if Religion is removied from our society, we'd be in chaos.
10) any federal program created by a Democrat, or that "looks" Democratic is
"socialistic."
Well....you have to admit, most of these programs are in the socialistic mold. I mean, income redistribution is nowhere near capitalistic, and is a socialistic program. Eminent Domain IS socialistic. Keeping people from flying the Confederate Flag is socialistic. Entitlement Programs are socialistic.
11) dismantling programs and restrictions on spending then sending the money
to states as a "block grant" is better than having a standardized Federal
program with rules.
Oh, you mean BIGGER Government which also is socialistic....
12) giving tax money to People is "enslaving them," giving tax money to
Corporations is "making jobs."
Well yes. If you're a parent and you do everything for your child instead of letting them do things for themself just to be helpful, isn't that a form of enslavement because you're keeping them dependant on YOU instead of themselves? The more money companies have, the more jobs they can create. Everytime a President cuts taxes, this happens and unemployment goes to new lows. You can say that you would rather do something different, but the fact of the matter is that facts consistently suggest that cutting taxes makes more jobs. You all may hate cutting taxes, but you all can't deny that when taxes are cut, jobs are created. This is also evident in the fact that once the Big 3 Car Manufacturers lost a ton of money, they had to downsize and as a result, people lost jobs.
13) anything that does not turn a profit for private corporations is "an
elitist" operation.
Example please...
14) always take everything personally.
Are you kidding me??? The most ferocious, mean spirited attacks have been coming from the left the last several years. The way they attack the President, Conservatives, and everybody else that doesn't agree wth them.
15) whatever your weakness is, blame it on your opponent.
Examples....
16) the more narrow and prejudiced your sources, the more you project that
onto your opponent.
IE: The Mainstream Media, right?
17) when your opponent attacks a Republican/conservative President's
policies, blame them on a Democratic Congress (or vice versa).
Examples....
18) when quoting your opponent, edit his words to conform to "correctness."
It's just people having fun. Look who's taking things seriously, now.
19) anyone who reads anything beyond "the Limbaugh Letter" is an "ivory
tower intellectual."
IE: The Mainstream media who pretends to be fair, but is biased.
20) when all else fails, lie.
When has anyone done that? I see the mainstream media lie all the time and you all seem to not care.

i guess i should have spelled it out.
this thread was not meant to be taken seriously. i am poking fun at conservatives a little bit here, but i could easily make the same kind of post poking fun at certain democratic idiosyncrasies.
however, there is a modicum of truth in some of the examples.
i have had people call me a liberal for disagreeing with their points of view.
i have had the term liberal propaganda thrown my direction a couple of times.
and #6 happens to me almost every time i post in the political forum.
an ad hominem is when some one attacks the person making an argument instead of actually responding to the substance of the original topic.
such as simply making a reply to someone who created a thread and then the subsequent replies are aimed at me instead of directly replying to the original topic.
but, like i said.....this isn't a thread to get bent about.

And your classification of the article posted in the other thread as drivel just because it came from a conservative source with all kinds of right-wing links as a, a, what? An ad-what?
