View Full Version : Dual video card/monitor setup

Got a new XPS last week with dual 7900 GS cards and two 20" widescreen monitors. Only one monitor works out of the box and the other is disabled due to the way Dell configures these before they ship them. The documentation is a little sketchy on how to activate the second monitor, but I would think I just go to the diaply properties, select the "2" monitor and then click the little box that allows you to extend the display to the second monitor. I have done this and it works fine. Somewhere in the documentation it also says that you have to disable the SLI properties to allow the GPUs to work independently. Is that necessary?

Yes it is...You can not have an SLi Dual monitor configuration. Either you use one monitor and have SLi enabled or you disable it and get to use both of the monitors.

That makes sense. I found a config window showing SLI and it is disabled. Guess that's why it seemed to work OK for me. Thanks for the info!
