14 high-profile journalist to die in mysterious circumstances since Russian President Vladimir Putin took office seven years ago. None of the cases has ever been solved.

It seems, in Russia, that to be outspoken and speak out in opposition against your government can be fatal.

Sort of your opinion on Bush anyway, isn't it? Maybe the good ol' USA isn't that bad after all!

I do apologize for the remark, it is true that you didn't wind up the patented democratic 'Bush Hate Machine' for this thread, and I was being a dickhead.

Happy?

No I think it does. Read my comments in the Iraq thread about the confrontational stance that the Soviets have taken of late. I think all of this is going to end up being related.

The latest reporter that died in Turkey had turned up evidence that the Soviets had sold planes and SAM missiles to both Syria and Iran. Why they would off him, I'm not certain but the whole thing is starting to stink. I think these assholes are spoiling for a fight or something.

i wasn't aware of that.

i've just read this particular article and watched the brian williams nbc report on the subject and it is kind of a disturbing trend.

You're gonna hate this but I agree. Putin has been moving around behind the curtain for a while. I've never trusted the ruskies, but particularly Putin. He's ex KGB. I don't think China will fall in line with em, but I think certain Arab countries will.

In Russia they don't call it a conspiracy. They just call it sticking to the plan for if any journalist get "out of line".

dude it's just like on 24! Where's Jack Bauer!?

ok seriously though, I think we'll end up at war with Russia sooner or later. They're still butt hurt that we broke their bank in the 80's, and Putin... that dude just looks like demon seed to me.
What's sad is these journalist's are coming up with good enough shit to get killed but the intelligence community doesn't seem to be half of what it once was.(yes I'm aware we dont know half the shit that the intelligence community knows)
What ever happened to the good old days of assassinations and proxy wars?

Jack's got his hands full right now. 24 is a wild show! I see lot's of real life parallel there with the ruskies and arabs.
You watch The Unit? Another good one.

No, I've wanted to after seeing commercials for it but I only have time to be addicted to one show per week.
