I'm not saying I don't enjoy John Wayne movies, but they all seemed too idealistic. Not that that's a bad thing, but if I'm going to suspend my reality for an hour and a half or two, I'd rather the biggest bit of action not be a poorly choreographed fist fight.

But both of them filmed in two different era's. I know Clint Eastwood been around for a while but just think if John Wayne was still around. I know he would have made movies with a lot of actions.

Again, good movies (some great), good actor (sometimes great), but bested by Eastwood's modern style.

What do you think Eastwood's best movie? And what to you think John Wayne's best movie?

I like most of them; it's really hard to pick a favorite from either one.

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly is by far the best movie ever made, much less the best Clint Eastwood movie. Clint Eastwood it the man. I don't think John Wayne can come even close. In fact, I think Clint Eastwood would have smoked him with a shot to the forehead before John Wayne could finish one of his super telegraphed punches. But, that's just me, and Clint Eastwood happens to be may favorite actor ever... :D

With Clint Eastwood, the better ones, in my opinion: Dirty Harry; The Enforcer; The Outlaw Josey Wales; The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly; Pale Rider; Unforgiven; Heartbreak Ridge; and High Plains Drifter. Then you've got ones like Space Cowboys; Million Dollar Baby; and Kelly's Heroes that don't fit as traditional Eastwood movies, but I like them too.

There are too many John Wayne movies to list, but my favorites: The Undefeated; El Dorado; The Searchers; True Grit; The Longest Day; and even The Green Berets.

i'm going to have to go with the duke on this one.

the man made 172 movies in his career and his off screen persona mirrored his on screen persona.

i liked clint eastwood in play misty for me.

Eastwood pwns all. I used to love when the "24 Hours of Eastwood" on TBS would come on the day after Thanksgiving, nothing like getting drunk full of leftover turkey watching my man Clint.

LOL! John Wayne was dead before most of you were born! "Red River" and "True Grit" were both damn good, and made almost 30 years apart! A good early movie of Clints' was "Coogans Bluff". It's dated, and was before "Dirty Harry", but still damned good. It's hard to compare these two, because JW did more serious drama's (Son's of Katie Elder, The Searcher's), than Clint did...

:D . Maybe in the "shoot 'em-ups", but the Duke definitely had his moments.
