i have a trojan virus that norton will not get rid of.....if i do a system restore back to another point will it go back to before the virus, or will the virus still be on the computer?

Most Virus/Malware writers are pretty smart. Alot of the times they can place their software into your system restore storage. So if you use System Restore, you may still be screwed.

That said, what do you have to lose? Just be sure to backup your data before you start........

One other thing. My advise has always been, if you're infected, you're always infected. If you want to be 100% safe, reformat and rebuild the OS. Again, backup your data before you begin...

Oh, and do a virus/malware scan of your backed up data before you begin restoring it.....

You might also try trendmicro.com before you go through all that. My .02 cents.

first of all... uninstall that POS Norton and get a good anti-virus/anti-spam/anti-spyware program.

Norton used to have what it takes, but they just don't anymore. I have a client that is a computer networking/setup/problem shooting guru who works for www.ca.com

their stuff is excellent based on my personal experience.

before you uninstall crapton, I mean Norton, input your system restore disc and wipe your system out. That's probably going to be your best bet. Save any pics/videos/and other important docs you have first though!
