can someone please explain the recent bizarre and contradictory statements made by vp cheney?

maybe 90 notch and his infinite wisdom can help a brother out and show me the light.

"I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the Al Qaeda strategy," the vice president told ABC News. "The Al Qaeda strategy is to break the will of the American people ... try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit."

^regarding pulling out troops in iraq.

VS.

Cheney also said Britain's plans to withdraw about 1,600 troops from Iraq — while the United States adds more troops — was a positive step. "I look at it and see it is actually an affirmation that there are parts of Iraq where things are going pretty well," the vice president said.

^things going well in iraq?

Used car salesman.

"Sure it has new interior but that has nothing to do with it coming from New Orleans. Trust me!" ;)

It's getting hard for even the master spinners to spin this bs.

And here we have the Director of Intelligence. Damn you're smart.

I don't see the big contradiction, one talks about the idea of pulling out which helps Al Qaeda where as the other talks about adding troops (other than Britain, but they occupy 2 territories and they aren't that bad comparatively speaking).

no contradiction?

one quote he basically says pulling out our troops validates al qaeda strategy and means we quit and they win.

and the other quote he says that britain pulling out troops is a positive step that is an affirmation that parts of iraq are going well.

i don't know about you, but i read a direct contradiction in those statements.

not only a contradiction, but a bad case of denial about the situation in iraq.

Yeah, he was referencing the idea of either one of two things advocated by those 2 Dems; complete pullout or a quick and phased pullout. We have pulled out troops in certain territories of Iraq because they have become stable to the point that our assistance isn't needed there, perhaps this is the same reasoning behind Britain's pullout of 1600 troops, that the [2] territories they occupy has become more stable, thus those troops aren't necessary in those regions.

Pulling British troops and moving more American troops in is not the same as withdrawing our troops from Iraq. I hope this clears up something for you.

can someone please explain the recent bizarre and contradictory statements made by vp cheney? What is bizarre and contradictory?

"I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the Al Qaeda strategy, [which] is to break the will of the American people ... try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit."

"I look at [the withdrawl of British troops] and see it is actually an affirmation that there are parts of Iraq where things are going pretty well,"

The first quote is talking about a complete, 100% bailout of all troops within the Iraq border.

The second is talking about troops being withdrawn from secure locations within the country.

Are you really that hellbent on finding something negative about the leaders of the country? Do you want me to dig up something on Pelosi and Murtha? I actually consider them traitors to the country.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treason

"whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."

The British troops are pulling out because the Iraqi's can control that region. We don't need them in Baghdad after the surge so they might as well go home. Their next deployment will be in Afghanistan.

I don't need to explain that which has already been explained. This really is pretty simple. Stop watching CNN and reading moveon.org or you will contnue to be confused by these simple issues.

When things are going well enough in American controlled areas, we will leave also. I hope it happens soon.
