my boss just bought a brand new porsche cayman s. i think its a manual. my buddy and i both think my lx (see signature) would smoke the cayman. who do you think would win? here are the specs on the cayman s: 295hp, 251lb*ft, 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, 3000lbs.

Wouldn't even be close!
A 300 rwhp foxbody should run well into the 12's!! Much quicker than the Porsche

do you think i could hit high 12's on street tires? i'd be happy with a 13.2 on streets.

My 90 coupe went 12.48 at 111 making only 284rwhp and 319rwtq. Car weighed #3140 with driver on ET Streets

Either that or he was losing 50 or so rwhp thanks to the stall converter:) It took me 360rwhp to run 12.50s but my car weighed 3700 pounds with driver.

The Cayman S is good for low 13s btw, about the same as a stock 01+ F-body with minor bolt ons. It's not a total punk like the Boxter.

but the guy bought a cayman. his driving ability could be sub par. but that's just a generalization. i used to drive a veedub after all, so I have about zero room to speak.

Wouldnt think it takes much skill to drive the Cayman, you better not miss a gear ;)

you would own it till about 120-130... then you'd be getting drug dirty style...

The Cayman would be good for 13.30s or better but seeing the mods in your sig you should win in a drag race unless your car doesnt hook all that great. But the Caymans are all arounders in a first to 10 lap road race it would beat you by 10. ;)

how? the coupe has more HP and better aerodynamics than an SUV

don't see going over 140 in a coupe anyway... let off when it shakes so bad your teeth rattle :D

I've had a coupe up to 140 before and never noticed it shaking?

The cayman S isn't an SUV, I think you're thinking of the Cayenne(?) or whatever the fuck its called.

The Cayman is smaller than a 911 and bigger than a Boxter with about the same power as a base 911. A Cayenne S would probably kick your ass.

This is a Cayman homie, not a Cayenne... Cayman is a lighter hardtop Boxster... it'll do north of 160 easy... ;) 300 RW coupe, not so much...

I kept up with one in my 928, we were both clipping about 130, and he was staying VERY steady... I ran a 13.5 in my car, and at speed it'll keep up with high 12 cars... I've been 198 in my personal car, but a Cayman doesn't have gear or the hp/torque to pull that high... 160-165 would be no problem for it though.

Actually, with that kind of power you're probably right. How much does the cayenne weigh anyhow?

Mason-I don't know, was lowered on 17's, that's as much as I can tell you at the moment.

Porsches and BMWs are VERY under rated... their HP is very near the rear wheel #s, and the gearing in the cars makes them very much faster than what we know in the American power cars...

I think you should beat it easy in the 1/4, if you hook up, but over 120 he's going to be coming back.. :D

Yep, I have first-hand knowledge of this with 911 turbos. Their gearing in the higher mph takes over.

Is the Cayman manual or tiptronic?

I read where the Tiptronic is so damn good these days it can shift faster
that a power shift.

i agree. he needs a lot of gear due to low torque and high revving engine.

just found out its a tiptronic. i'd easily beat an auto. i still think i'd beat him if it was a manual though. he'd probably get me off the line though because its a mid-engine configuration with a lot of weight on the rear tires and my fox is nose-heavy.
