Does any track do it anymore? And no don't mean your normal bracket race. 2 yrs ago Kennedale ran a 6.5, 7, and 7.5 index the first friday of every month.

TXR still has a 6.40 index class every now and then, and Texas True Ten 5 will also have a 6.50 index class at their saturday races this year, and the dfwdragracing boys seem to have a good little program going as well.

I've heard cedar creek will be having some index races this year. I believe someone over at dfwdragracing.com is behind it.

Why can't you talk the motorplex into having a payout class of something on friday nights maybe a 50/50 payout track keeps half and pays half. It will draw more racers so all around its more money for the motorplex. Other tracks have something every weekend to win money, but the only 1/4 mile in the area wont do anything.

Believe me, I have tried. I think 3 or 4 index classes would work. Maybe the same indexes as in the Fastest Street Car deal. Maybe even a similar payout would be fine. If anything, at least there would be something else to do besides the same old, same old every Friday night. I've been told there is something in the works but, I'll believe it when I see it.

You should see the flyer that I got in from Norwalk Raceway Park! They have something going on every weekend and numerous index and bracket programs. Damn shame Ennis can't do the same thing!

Yea, you know how shitty cedar creek is and they have a way to win money everynight there open they have stuff for the big boys and stuff for the little guy. You see a lot more fast cars then and less ricers then you do when u go to ennis.

TTT5 is working out a 6.50 heads-up index class. For now, it will be ran at our Saturday races. It will have a cash payout for winner and r-up and trophies for both. Stay tuned for more details.

If any of you guys are really serious about running in some heads up index classes or any other heads up classes, contact Trey Capps at the Motorplex. Friday nights are basically wide open for something like this. Email him at tcapps@texasmotorplex.com. Or, better yet, if any of you are coming out for TNT this Saturday or the next, go up and see him in the tower and let him know what you would like to see. You can also call the Motorplex at 972-878-2641 and give him a shout. He his open to suggestions and would like to get something going on Friday nights.

I hope a few of you guys email him requesting addition of index or bracket races for friday with a payout. It would be nice to have some competition mixed in with the 5 hrs of 17 sec hondas.

I only see one problem with the motorplex friday night races.......and it is the same problem with redlines friday night program.......traffic getting to the racetrack. Alot of racers like me usually dont get of work until 6 or so and by the time you drive home threw traffic and hook up the trailer and leave for the 50+ mile trip threw more traffic to get to the track at 8 o'clock.

I sent Trey an email. The traffic getting to the Ennis is a problem. Hopefully they will consider that if they decide to schedule Friday events.

I'm sure the Motorplex has no problem starting later. They stay open til' 2 am on some Friday nights so time should not be a factor.

Hey Moose do they care about batteries being in the trunk on slow cars?

Shut off is not ET dependent.

So i need to put a cut off switch? I still dont understand that rule... if the battery is in the front they can't cut it off.

You CAN almost always open the hood in a wreck to kill the battery. The trunk is more difficult.

Here is a plan for index's at the Motorplex. Have the index race the Friday before their bracket weekend. That way you can draw from the Friday night racers and the Bracket racers that may be out there on Friday night testing. Could be good for car counts.

Yep, even in slow cars. If it's in the trunk they will look for a cutoff switch & they will look to see if it is mounted properly. They will probably let you race but the next time you come out they may not be as nice.

Every NHRA/IHRA sanctioned track I've ever been to has at least looked for those 2 things if they notice the battery is not under the hood. It's just one of those things everybody looks at.

Good idea. It could also be good for payout.
