My titan at Ennis

Well I got my stock titan out to the quarter mile and it sucked. The track prep was great but cold tires plus no LSD equaled very embarrasing times. It was a very busy test and tune so I only got in two runs.
1st run 3.005 60' 13.424 1/8th 20.271 1/4@73.46 floored it from the start and nothing but wheelspin
2nd run 2.636 60' 10.377 1/8th 15.925 1/4@88.94 did a small burnout to try and help warm up the tire and babied it out the hole then floored it.
I wanted to go a few more times so I could figure out how to launch this thing. So 1st time in an automatic vehicle I'm not too upset. I'll be getting my volant intake/exhaust and TB spacer by Friday and hopefully there will be another test and tune where I can get there early and get a few practice runs in. Next mod I'm saving for will be a truetrac LSD!

Cool, I've heard from people on here that those Titans are pretty strong. What were you beating on the way home with an 88 mph trap?

2 dodges and a silverado, and my times are in no way a reflection of what the truck can do. I just suck at launching it.

my bone-stock '94 F-150 (ext cab) with the 351 was running a 10.1. :) that's an old ass truck too.
oh, and I believe they had less than 250hp stock, and weighed like 6Klbs.

Like I said its all in the launch and getting traction, I've never raced an automatic and I'm willing to bet that F150 came with a 8.8 rear with limited slip. I have an open differential so it makes things a bit tougher. I'm not making any excuses, I'm not happy with my times but I'm confident that the times will come come down easily when I get some more time at the track. However, I pretty sure that no N/A F150 is going to worry me.

Its a toss up between the Volant, Injen, and AEM Brute Force aka Fram Boost. They all dyno within a few ponies of each other. I went with volant since the filter is sealed, I can add a ram air scoop easily, and its a composite material less likely to transfer heat. And then there is the price. But many are just as happy with the S&B intake with looks like a Volant knock-off with a clear top on the filter housing and it comes with a dry filter. I got in on a group purchase Volant intake/exhaust and airaid tb spacer for $800 shipped to my door. Good thing is when and if I should move up to an Armada my parts will transfer right over with no issues. :D

I weighed my truck & I am 5025 with me in it & a Full Tank of gas, But when it comes to the Titans they are getting mad respect her lately from everyone else which made wonder are they as bad as everyone is saying. Well my answer is NO.

I think if you can get your 60ft down to a 2.3 60ft you can see some 15.1s. I know you shouldn't shift a auto by hand. But just leaving my truck & drive & I had to baby it on the leave the best I could pull was a 15.2 @ 91, But when I did it by hand I my first pass 15.1@92 & almost got 93mph :cool:

Just make sure you stay away from the New Tundras with the 5.7 ltr. ;) That is supposed to be the quickest na truck now days. Supposed to beat the titan by .5 second.

seat of pants feel i agree, but my crew cab is by far faster because i had both and ran them against each other. the seat of pants fee,lthats prolly in the converters.

Cobb tuning is hard at work on a handheld tuner, Stillen will have a piggyback (no word if it takes care of the drive by wire yet), and a company called Uprev in Austin that can take care of it for a large amount of money.

This may come down to a drivers race. I ordered my parts last Friday and still no knock at my door from UPS, so I called the place where I ordered them from and turns out my stuff left yesterday. I was pissed and asked why would it have takes so long, his response was paperwork, hmmm, well why start the paperwork so long after you got my money since it had already posted on Monday and should have left Monday as well since it said they had 7 of each piece in stock! He noted that it was coming from California and that the ship date he gave me was based on the day that he got the tracking number which I still have not received. He said he would look into it further and let me know something soon. I'm kicking myself for not going thru Jegs or Summit now.

Well my spacer came in today and I think I'm going to turn around and sell that piece since it was included in the package deal. I'm hoping tomorrow I will finally have my intake and exhaust. I suppose I should have read the sellers ebay feedback before I placed my order. Seems that plenty of his customers have complained about the very slow shipping.

04 gmc single cab swb with the 5.3 and a lsd 3.42 rear. Only mod is dual dynomax exhaust. I imagine persuading him is going to be harder now, he shattered the spider gears this last weekend.

Seb, my parts just finished inspecting my parts since one box had busted open. I'll be installing tonite or tomorrow. Hopefully this will be enough to make up for the 500lbs I have on you and no LSD. If not then I'm gonna have to get a LSD and tune.

Get you a Tune & you LSD Deal. I want this to be a even race. But I am looking foward to seeing what the Titan has in it. I want us to weight at the scales too just to see. I am 5025 with a Tank of Gas & me in the truck.

I can't afford a tune and LSD but I think this is enough. I had a nice time putting in the intake, its a tight fit but performs well. I'm gonna end up paying to have my exhaust put on since I don't want to mess with it.

What cold Air did you get? I saw in Summit they have a KIT made by INJUN or something like that. It is a metal cold Air kit. If it is. Those kits are epensive. So what are your mods now to date?

seat of pants feel i agree, but my crew cab is by far faster because i had both and ran them against each other. the seat of pants fee,lthats prolly in the converters.
you know chevrolet is famous for the two same trucks or two same cars running totaly diffrent from each other one fast as hell and one that runs like a terd!

Actually from watching them run at the track. Ext cabs are running 9.7's with some mods. But then i have not taken off the 20's yet. But I don't think they are eating up 4 tenths either. I believe my best time is a 10.101 in the eigth on the 20's. You are correct about one engine running better than the other. I definately don't have a"good" running one.

But being serious. I really do think your 20s are killing you. I bet on some 16s you would be a 9.9 maybe 9.8 1/8 mile truck

I went with a Volant and yes everything for this damn truck is much more expensive than I would have thought. So the Volant intake and TB spacer are on. I have to re-install the intake since I flew thru it last night, gotta put the foam pad on the bottom.

So how does it feel stronger now. I raced a Titan on the way back from lunch & got him from a 65 punch by almost 2 trucks.

I hope to have a TB Spacer & Ported TB when we race. :D

Well the shop I went to wouldn't touch it but let me use the lift. I didn't have one socket that needed and I pretty much left after getting the stock exhaust off so tomorrow I'll finish it off and see how it does. I wish I could do it tonite but I don't have any tools or a drop light. I'm pretty sure I could do it as it sits but I don't want to hassle with it right now.

Well the exhaust is now on. I started about 10:30 finished at 11:45. Would have been faster if I had a jack, jackstands, a ratched that didn't break. Looking back I could have done it all and avoided cutting the stock exhaust in my driveway. I still gotta get some more padding under the intake. There is a hellacious drone/vibration for a split secong if I floor it and its already annoying the hell out of me. I really can't tell any difference so I'm a bit disappointed, the exhaust is really nice but who's looking under the truck to see it? It has a very mellow tone, maybe I should have waited and picked up the Banks system.
