Now here's a guy we, as gun owners, should do everything we can to keep out of office in '08.

I was bored so I surfed the Illinois General Assembly website a bit. Holy cow, talk about the tip of the iceberg. These are just a sample of anti-gun bills he sponsored/co-sponsored in his seven years there. Need to look up his voting record on all firearms bills but I don't have time for that now, takes forever to navigate around there finding info. Any gunowner should be against this guy for his stance on the firearms issue alone.
SB1338 (2001) - Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Creates the offense of unlawful use of a semiautomatic assault weapon or large capacity ammunition feeding device, defined as knowingly selling, manufacturing, purchasing, possessing, or carrying a semiautomatic assault weapon or large capacity ammunition feeding device. Provides that the offense is a Class 2 felony. Exempts peace officers and members of the Armed Services or Reserved Forces of the United States and Illinois National Guard while in the performance of their official duties and wardens, superintendents, and keepers of prisons, penitentiaries, jails and other facilities for the detention of persons accused or convicted of an offense. Also exempts the manufacture, transportation, or sale of these weapons or devices to those persons.
SB1614 (1999-2000) - Prohibits the transfer of more than one handgun within a 30-day period. Exempts federally licensed firearm dealers who purchase handguns as inventory in the regular course of business, the military, law enforcement officials, certain hunters, and other specified persons. Provides that a violation is a Class 4 felony.
SB1616 (1999-2000) - Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that an applicant for a Firearm Owner's Identification Card must appear in person before a law enforcement agency and submit positive identification to a law enforcement officer before the issuance of the application to the applicant. Increases the fee for a Firearm Owner's Identification Card from $5 to $10. Provides that the additional $5 shall be deposited into the Firearm Owner's Notification fund.
Provides that the Department of State Police shall, 60 days (rather than 30 days) prior to the expiration of a Firearm Owner's Identification Card, forward to each person whose card is to expire a notification of the expiration of the card. Deletes provisions requiring the forwarding of the actual application. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Requires the Department of State Police to forward to the Secretary of State the names, addresses, and other identifying information about holders of Firearm Owner's Identification Cards. Provides that the information shall be compiled in a database and may be accessed by law enforcement officers who enforce traffic laws.
HB2315 (2001) - Changes the offense of unlawful use of armor piercing bullets to unlawful use of firearm projectiles and includes as firearm projectiles any armor piercing bullet, 50-caliber bullet, dragon's breath shotgun shell, bolo shell, or flechette shell. Expands the offense of manufacturing, selling, or transferring of bullets represented to be armor piercing bullets to include any shell represented to be a dragon's breath shotgun shell, bolo shell, or flechette shell. Changes the offense of unlawful discharge of armor piercing bullets to unlawful discharge of firearm projectiles and includes as firearm projectiles any armor piercing bullet, 50 caliber bullet, dragon's breath shotgun shell, bolo shell, or flechette shell.
And the kicker...
He also voted against a home owners right to defend themselves in their own home with a handgun. (Per Hannity today)
