Interesting read on the DallasNews.com regarding the Rockets, Mavs and Spurs. Never been a huge basketball fan but the article brings up some good points on pro basketball in the Lone Star state.

Part of the article:

"
Still not a believer? Check these results from the last 13 NBA Finals: Two titles by Houston ('94 and '95), three by San Antonio ('99, '03 and '05) ...

... one blown title by the Mavs.

Bottom line: Nearly half the Finals over the last 13 years have featured a member of the Texas Triangle. No other state comes close to that many appearances over the same span. "

An interesting feat, but... so? Just because there are good owners willing to spend money doesn't really have anything to do with the state.

Thats pretty amazing that all three teams have been able to do that with F/A. I guess you gotta go through a Texas team now to even sniff a NBA title.

Other than all the teams are in the state. Your logic is silly.

Anyone else think it is funny that a guy named tex is bagging on Texas?

I agree with 01WC, you have silly logic.

How is that bagging on the state?

And it has nothing to do with the average Texan. The teams aren't made up of Texans. It's completely arbitrary. I think it's cool that we get to watch a lot of good basketball around here, but it's nothing that any one Texan can take credit for. The owners aren't even all Texans.

I thought the Celtics pretty much did that on their own, back in the day. ;) I'm sure it's not just a coincidence, but what do you make of it?

I agree with Tex.

And I love the comment of "bagging" on the state just because he's not drinking the homer koolaid.

P.S. The Lakers have 14 Titles, thats more than all 3 Texas teams combined.

Who fucking said anything about them being Texans? It's about pro basketball in Texas.

It was about the state of Texas pro basketball. You know, pro basketball inside the boundaries of Texas.

Some people just want to read something more into it.

Just a question but how many other states have three teams? I'm sure Cali does, any more?

That is what I read into it. It is 3 about 3 teams that happen to be in Texas.

BTW, I was just making a very light attempt at humor by the "tex bagging on Texas" thing. Lighten up people! I am one of those people who root for Sandy in Spongebob because she is from Texas. I find that stuff funny. :D

To most of us Texans, they are the same. LOL

Down by 5 now with 9.9 to go. Looks like the Spurs are going down again. But thanks for wearing down the Lakers for us. Look forward to beating them tomorrow night!
