You can pick up AK's at local gunshows for very cheap. And Pawn shops are a good bet as well.

You should buy a weapon based on reliability and what you need it for (hunting/home protection/training/personal protection), not "looks"? Do a little research and figure out what you want it for...it might save you a lot of money in the long run. Not trying to be a dick just giving you some advise.

I came across this in SWAT magazine yesterday. Im thinking about getting one myself.

Kel-Tec PLR-16 $640

Its a stamped EWBanks custom built, they are out of Winslow AZ. They now build many different models but they are a bit pricey.
Good quality worth the price.

Well an assault rifle pistol usually has very poor performance. The shortened barrel really affects bullet speed, which is critical in a smaller high speed round ie; 223 or 5.56 nato. In some weapons it can affect reliability which you a short piston gas system. The AK's vary as they use a long piston short gas system which is alot more reliable. But for the size and ballistics an assault pistol is not optimal. Now if you are wanting high magazine count that is a different story.

On the KelTec, why is there a scope and no butt stock? That barrel is so short a scope is not needed.

An FN P90 would be a better short firearm choice with high capacity and high rate of fire.

I agree the bullpup P90 is a fantastic weapon but most people would not pay the extra money and hassle of paperwork for a SBR or Class III. The pistols are really for fun in a compact package, are they accurate? Some are if you buy a good quality one, are they practical? Oh hell no. :)
But they are a one hell of a rush to blast away with. Want to hit something buy a full size rifle, want to have as much fun as sex? Buy the otherwise worthless pistol.

There's plenty of barrel there.
