WTF!? TXA 21 Sports News just reported that the Rangers worked Sammy Sosa out at Ameriquest and are thinking about signing him to a minor-league contract. The Rangers/John Daniels are desperate.

They have to fill them seats at Ameriquest Field, if they went back to charging decent prices they might actaully have more people come out instead of hiring has-beens...'H'

The Rangers already fucked up once with Sosa...traded him for a guy by the name of Hal Baines, back in about '89. Hal didn't hit his weight the whole time he was here. What a bust.

Harold Baines and Fred Manrique!

I wouldn't mind seeing Texas offer Sosa, Pameiro and Ruben Sierra contracts. If Julio Franco can be worthwhile at nearly 50 one of those guys has got to be worth something.

It's January, and I can already say it...the Ranger's are DONE! Another .500 season, and they will not get one fucking penny of my money until they prove otherwise. I'll be a son-of-a-bitch before I go out there and pay $7 a beer and $5 for a shitty hot dog, just to watch those stumble-bums fuck up America's Pastime...again.

They want a cheap right handed bat. WHo can be cheaper than a washed up Samma Sosa. It isnt about putting asses in seats, it's about a cost effective way to fill a need. I applaud Jon Daniels for looking at EVERY option.

Wasnt Wilson Alvarez a throw in on that Harold Baines deal? He threw a No-hitter in his 2nd start with the ChiSox.

Yep. I forget all the players but it was Baines and Manrique to the Rangers for Sosa, Alvarez and someone else.

I tried to get enough people together last year and fell a little short. It's like $1500 a game to rent it out and it comes with 25 tickets. About $60 a pop but you get a hamburger/hot dog/chips/water/dp per person as well.

I think it would be alot of fun myself.

America's pastime is all about overpriced beer and hot dogs, that's what makes baseball special. And side not, $1 hotdog night rocks.

I made this line on another board and a photoshop was made:

Is John Daniels going through his 1992 Upper Deck baseball card collection to decide who he wants to play next year?

What happened to Sosa? I haven't kept up with baseball for years myself. I know he was alleged to have used steroids, was that confirmed?

He's a dickhead and most of his teammates can't stand him. Pretty much a Dominican version of Barry Bonds. His corked bat incident did more damage than if he admitted to using steroids, he's never admitted or been charged with btw.

Nobody even wanted him last year and he spent the whole season doing nothing. He never admitted to using steroids, but his testimony in front of congress was laughable at best. He tried to play as if he couldn't speak English very well and just babbled on about nothing.

WN8, that Photoshop is priceless and so very true.

Sports Service (the company that runs all the concessions at the Ballpark), doesn't throw away ANYTHING. They waste NOTHING. Those are the cheapest, shittiest dogs money can buy. Those things will sit around (thawed) for waaaay too long before being served. It's not a coincidence that the Health Department would show up on Dollar Dog Night. We would serve 1800-2000 in a night, but cook up too 1500. The left-overs might be served for the next 4 or 5 games, depending on how long the home-stand lasted. The best quality dogs at the Park, are the all beef kosher dogs. You have to look a little to find the stands that sell them, but it's well worth it.
