I need another pocket knife for work. I had a S&W S.W.A.T like this http://www.selfdefenseproducts.com/images/knives/general/swat4.jpg but I lost it.

Anyone have a suggestion on a decent knife that's similar to that or is that a pretty good one for the price? I really don't want to spend more than $60 on one if I don't have to. A friend of mine told me Spyderco makes good knives but other than that, and the one I had, I don't know much.

I have some BENCHMADES..IMO they are the best knives to carry. I carry one with me no matter where I am.
You should be able to find a griptillian on ebay for around $60..

I had a issue with one of my benchmades a cpl of months ago..One of the Screws that holds the belt clip kept loosening up so I sent it in.A week later I had it back,With a New clip,All new screws,The blade had been repolished and laser sharpened,and they sent me a bottle of oil for it.
I really like mine.I've dropped it in acid and didnt realize it till it had messed the blade up real bad.Sent that one in for an estimate on how much to fix.Got it back with a new blade...

i've been carrying a buck lately. the "tempest" model, its an assisted opener with a 3.25" blade, pretty bad ass knife for the money. i carry either that or a s&w 24/7 or a larger s&w swat with a tanto blade.

Cold Steel Voyager, pick your size. One of the best working knives I've ever had the pleasure of owning. You should be able to pick one up for 45-50$ if you look the right place.

Benchmade's cheaper stuff isn't winning me over, but kershaw has some nice enough stuff. Spyderco makes a good knife, but the blades are brittle, so if you abuse it, it will break. CRKT is crap.

Have that Kershaw and also the straight blade model too. I removed the belt clip, undid the pivot screw, added a drop of loctite, then readjusted it to the tension I wanted at opening. Best knives I've ever carried (I've lost 2 through the years).

It's a good knife for under $40, but I'll be going back to the SOG. The SOG costs around $100-$120, though.

You can't go wrong with a good Benchmade, Spyderco, or Kershaw. All of them are very good knives that hold an edge well and take some serious abuse.

me too. For about $20 or $30 you can get a decent one at academy, they stay sharp and hold up.

I used to carry a Vapor II but lost it in a bar fight somewhere, so I got the smaller Vapor.

That is the one I carry, it is a damn good knive, got it as a Groomsman gift at a friends wedding, much better than the mug with your initials on it like you usually get.

That last sentence doesn't lend you much credibility in my book. CRKT uses crap steel, and the construction methods are sub par, in my book... I'd take a spyderco, cold steel, kershaw over another CRKT of comparable price any day of the week. Ask me about my piece of shit G10 handled "fireman" model m16.

those things are so akward, tons of guys I used to work with carried them... I just used a regular box cutter... when I needed a blade, flick I had one... they were always fumbling w/ those things trying to get them open. I know, I had one and gave it away after a week.

I never had problems. I was always breaking box cutters when cutting caulk, these give you a good handle and leverage. But this is doing work at home, which is a litttle different.

I've owned many knives over the years and carry one on me frequently for places I can't use my CHL. Over the past ten years I've found myself carrying either an Emerson/Benchmade or a Spyderco. I've probably spent a small sum of money on knives because I like to own a quality blade and every so often I lose one of them :mad:

The Commander is a serious knife compared to the Spyderco. Both knives have Emerson's proprietary Wave feature (http://www.emersonknives.com/EK_Video_Vault.html) (check out the hook on the blade) which is pretty cool.

Cold Steel knives are the best value for the money and absolutely THE most durable. I have a Voyager 1/2 Serrated Tanto that is awesome. The neat thing about CS knives is the way they harden their blades, they only harden the edge and leave the spine malleable to point that you can put a tanto' tip only' in a vise, bend it 45* and it will not break.

I also carry a Kershaw Ken Onion edition assisted open in the same style, 1/2 serrated tanto.
