He was supposed to say announce today, but postponed it till tomorrow.

Bush declared today. I fully expected him to wait until Peterson did, but I guess he got tired of waiting.

Peterson to enter NFL Draft

Tell Us: Best OU back

More: Oklahoma
Peterson, who is projected in several mock drafts as a top 10 pick, met with Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops on Wednesday to notify Stoops of his intention to turn pro, according to one source.

Another source said Peterson has met with agents, including Eugene Parker, Drew Rosenhaus and the Creative Artists Agency, whose NFL division is headed by agents Ben Dogra and Tom Condon.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare themselves eligible for the NFL Draft is Monday.

Peterson, the 2004 Heisman Trophy runner-up from Palestine, Texas, battled shoulder and ankle injuries and a broken collarbone during his three seasons at OU. But he'll leave the school with 4,045 yards and 41 career touchdowns, putting him among the best running backs in school history.

Inside the OU athletic department, it's been widely believed that Peterson would leave the school after his junior year. He never hinted what direction he was leaning in the days leading up to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, though.

Peterson missed the second half of the season with a broken collarbone. Still, he entered the bowl game needing just 151 yards to break the school's all-time rushing record.

Peterson had 77 yards on 20 carries against the Broncos in a 43-42 overtime loss. His 4,045 yards rushing ranks third on OU's all-time list behind Billy Sims (4,118 yards) and Joe Washington (4,071).

Adrian Peterson has 4,045 yards and 41 touchdowns in his career at Oklahoma. One of the country's top recruits out of high school, Peterson didn't disappoint. He rushed for 1,925 yards and 15 touchdowns as a freshman despite battling shoulder problems. Peterson became the first freshman to finish second in the Heisman Trophy voting.

A nagging ankle injury slowed Peterson as a sophomore. But he still rushed for 1,108 yards. This season, Peterson had 935 yards before breaking his collarbone six games into the season against Iowa State. He suffered the injury by diving into the end zone on a 53-yard touchdown run.

Good thing is that we have a few guys in the stable to take his place next year. :) I hope he has a healthier pro career than he did a college career. If he stays healthy and goes to a halfway decent team (doesn't get Sandersed) he should have a respectable pro career.

Most projections are leading right to Houston, so it looks as if he's headed to be "Sandersized."

NORMAN -- Adrian Peterson wants to set the record straight.

The Oklahoma running back has not decided whether he is going to leave the Sooners and enter the NFL Draft.

“I have spent the last few days considering my options to either enter the NFL Draft or stay at OU. The facts are that I have not hired any representation and I have not declared for the draft," Peterson said in a statement released Thursday afternoon by OU. "My meetings with Coach Stoops and my parents have been to discuss all the scenarios. I see a lot of options in both so I am still undecided on what I want to do. I wish people would give me the opportunity to decide. Once I do, I will make an announcement at the right time. Any reports that are different than that are false.”

guess he's still undecided.

He's running out of time to decide here. He's got till Monday 5 p.m. so he can't do too much more thinking. I think with him being a possible top 5 pick and a top 10 lock, he'd be pretty stupid not to go. With his history/luck of getting hurt, it would really suck for him to come back and then have something happen AGAIN.

I think he should go.. but he is considering more than just the money. I am sure he wants to accomplish more at the college level and people are telling him to do what he feels is right. He has not had any major injuries or nagging ones (ankle and collarbone right?).

Who knows.. I am sure he will make his decision soon as he does not have much time like SVT stated.

He also hurt his shoulder and had to have surgery during the offseason between his Fresh. and Soph. year.

Scouts are saying that durability is an issue so I say he better "get while the gettin's good."

He should pull a T.J. Ford and go pro early so his injuries can't catch up with him before payday.
