I know I bought several tins of it cheap several years age. The war in the Balkins made it hard to find several years ago for a short time but everything when back to " normal ". Cheap and easy to find. Shot up lots thru the SKS during the holidays and looking to replace it. Just about doubled in price. Is it the "wars" in Africa and Mid East driving the price up ? Got a tin as backup now but WTF. Just asking, got 60 rds ( the boxes are marked corrosive ) of corrosive rds. Don't really want to shoot it but what do you do with it ? Don't even remember when/where I got it from. How would youall get rid of it ?

Shoot the shit out of it
The "corrosive priming" basically gives the ammo an indefinite shelf life. Just give it a good cleaning afterward and you won't have any problems.
As for the rising prices... it's not just the 7.62x39. Have you seen 5.56 lately?

I bought 1000 rounds of Wolf from Gander Mountain in Sherman, and it came out to $3 a box (of 20). My brother and I were shooting last weekend, and a guy showed up where we were shooting and was telling me about somewhere that he got it for 40 cents a round ! He said it was surplus, but for just shooting the shit out of stuff, I could care less if it was surplus, or repackaged, etc.
I'll have to check Academy. Thanks for the tip, Allan.

I've paid $2/round for Hornady Custom and Cor-Bon in the past. Even loading my own I once calculated 25 cents apiece without factoring in the brass. With cheap bullets you could bring that down though.
I don't know anything about 7.62 prices, sorry. The price increase is probably due to the US government ordering $400 million in small arms ammo from the Russians and others, especially 7.62x39.

Like others have said, shoot em up!
I read somewhere that if you make your first patch pass with windex (with ammonia) , it'll nuetralize the corrosive stuff, then just clean as normal. A thorough cleaning will get it out anyway, but neutralizing isn't a bad idea just in case.

Some people spray it in the barrel and chamber. It isn't a cure, but it helps.
I wouldn't mess with it at all. Put it on craigslist.

Same here. I bought 1500 rounds from Academy off of Spring Creek and Hwy 75. That's where you got it from, I'm assuming ?
Denny, if momo doesn't get all of the mags from you, I'd like to get at least one.
