Unless you plan on Tracking the bike then i would buy one, other than that i would rather buy a Gixxer 1000 or R1.

I'm sure they would be faster but which one is looks cooler? lol... Sounds stupid but I'm not interested in going warp speeds anymore, just wanna ride and have a good time.

BTW, does anyone have any good/bad things to say about European Cycle Sports in Plano? They are the closest Ducati dealer to me but have never done business with them.

hah... That's funny about the rod flying in them because I thought the same thing the first time I was around one while it was idling. I agree that the R1's are dead sexy but there are a million of them out there on the streets. The MSRP on the 1098 is $14999 or something like that so basically $15k plus TTL. From what I can tell, there aren't any readily available yet so that price most likely will not be negotiable for a while.

My friend just put a 2K deposit on the 1098. He rides an 04 749 now. To bad the 1098 does not come in flat black. I don't think its fair to compare a jap bike to the duc., you have to totally different machines.

I see a little of that R1 sexiness in the nose, but rest of the bike is all Ducati.

The bike that made me like Ducati again.
Back to the single sided arm, back to side by side headlights, back to a dual undertail, bike looks GOOD again. Weight and power are finally on par with the japs and the price isn't too bad either.
I'm actually really surprised, brembo, marchesini, and ohlins cost a helluva lot more than the junk used on jap bikes. I really am surprised the new machines are so cheap, looks like Duc is finally ready to get into the game as far as street and occasional track riders go.
I keep wanting a friend of mine who used to post on here to go put a deposit on one. He's who I sold my 01 996 to.
However, it's still going to get dusted on the street by all the big 4 jap bikes :p
And all you people bitching about the dry clutch must ride differently than me. I get out and RIDE, my shit doesn't spend much time sitting around idling :D

Expensive, uncomfortable, and slow. Sounds like a winner. The bike is unique and will turn heads, but thats where it's usefulness ends. Ill take my cheaper, faster and more comfortable bike that is still better looking after 2 wonderful years.

Nice bike but 14,999+ttl.........no way man. If your just looking to ride and have a good time a Jap 600 would suffice and the new R6 and ZX6 are sweet looking bikes and plenty fast. I wouldn't spend nearly $16k on a bike unless I was wearing out a new set of knee pucks every weekend or I just had the money to blow. Im a speed demon though, I go for whatever is the fastest and most powerfull....looks and comfort are second and third place for me I get used to those. ;)
To each his own though, so good luck! Im sure you will have a good time with it.
