Colt, Rock River, Bushmaster, Armalite, Stag Arms are all quality companies.

Or you could put something together for yourself.

I bought mine (AR-15) in about 1980 or so... gave $225.00 or so for it from a sporting goods store up in Denton on the square. Mine is made by Colt and I've been very happy with it overall, even though I haven't had it outta' the case in about 10 years.

Buy a Colt version, you won't be sorry.

Stag makes the High Standard lower.

Colt is over priced. The are still selling their magazines for $30 when everyone else has them for $10-$15. Its still a good weapon though.

I went with DPMS. I have had problems with after market parts fitting into all the other brands (Colt, Rock River, Bushmaster, Armalite, Olympic Arms). I have never had any problems with parts fitting into DPMS.
They all do the same thing but I have had good luck with DPMS.

IMO
1. DPMS
2. Colt
3. RR
4. Bushmaster
5. Armalite
6. Olympic Arms

Colt. Combine quality and resale value, they offer the best deal.

The thing with Colt is you buy a name. Kinda like a Porsche Boxster. Yeah it's a POS and at the bottom of the grade, but you're still driving a Porsche.

People can ask higher prices for Colt stuff simply because people will buy it.

How much are the Colts going for these days? Last time I checked after the ban went off they were in the $1200 range.

It depends. SP-1s are still in that area along with "LE marked guns", but in general one can find them in $800.

"Colt a POS"???? Hey...maybe overpriced, maybe not exactly friendly to the civilan market, but I don't think anyone would consider a Colt a POS.

Usually at the shows Bachman Pawn has good prices for ARs.
