Sig P229, if it's good enough for US air marshalls it's good enough for me. Well that and it's small, light weight, deadly accurate, smooth shooting and extremely reliable. You can also choose from 9mm, .40 cal S&W and Sig .357 with the same gun.

Sprinfield GI champion .45, slim with one of the pocket clips and hogue grips, shoots strait and the only jam ive ever had in a few thousand rounds was due to a dirty ramp after 300 rounds of shooting wolf (im cheap with plinking) also had this happen in my XD with the same ammo.

I have a glock 36, its the only slimline that glock makes. 6 round mag. single stack so yes it is pretty slim. And I damn near stole it from my buddy, I got it for 500 bucks and all of the internals have been changed out with "race" parts. It's a 45 acp and I love it. It kicks like a mule cause it's such a little gun but shoots deadly accurate.

Glock 27 w/10 round clip (makes room for pinkie). Plenty of knockdown power. I use a "small of back" holster and can work all day on my property operating a dozer, tractor, etc. and forget it is there (though that can be a problem when I forget and go to the store- no CHL--yet)

Summer: Keltec P3AT 380
Why? Light compact great for carry in shorts pocket. +P rounds

Winter: Glock 26 9mm
Why? Bigger bang, but easy to conceal with heavier clothing. It gives me warm fuzzies.

Same as Bigjeep...a Keltec (except in .32) in the Summer, and a Glock 26 in the winter. Same reasons also.

Don't discount the cheapo Keltec...they are the most accurate little gun I've ever owned. Just make sure it is reliable before you carry it, because some need a little tuning from the factory.

A knife is a given...

Glock 27 w/ Pearce +1 extensions in a Comp-Tac Holster.

5.7 X 28 mm FN 5.7

You can't possible be serious? Why?

My Benchmade 440C...................because it is light, razorsharp, easily hidden, opens in a flash with one hand, and will cut you from asshole to elbow when it has to.

I always keep a Benchmade or Spyderco with me at all times. And if I know I'll be out after dark a Surefire flashlight gets slipped into the pocket as well.

Not with the neutered ammo now available.

Still, that caliber was designed for body armor penetration right?

Yeah...the good stuff is the SS109

here is some info:

The FN 5.7 (Fabrique Nationale) pistol is a semiautomatic pistol in 5.7 X 28 mm caliber approved for importation as a sporting firearm.

The classification of all ammunition is governed strictly by the definitions presented in the GCA. Specifically, as defined in 18 U.S.C. Section 921(a)(17)(B), the term "armor piercing ammunition" means-

a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium; or

a full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25 percent of the total weight of the projectile.
FTB has also examined a 5.7 X 28 mm projectile that FN Herstal has designated the "SS196." The SS196 is loaded with a Hornady 40 grain, jacketed lead bullet. FTB classified SS196 ammunition as not armor piercing ammunition under Federal firearms statutes.

According to FNH USA, FN Herstal tested the SS192 ammunition. SS192 ammunition did not penetrate the Level IIIA vests that were tested. FNH USA states that SS196, Hornady V-Max 40 gr. bullets fired from a 4-3/4 inch barrel did not penetrate the Level II vests that were used in testing.

FNH USA has informed FTB that SS192 is no longer imported for commercial sale to the United States.

FN Herstal 5.7 X 28mm Ammunition

SS190 - Armor piercing (AP)
SS191/L191 - AP Tracer
SS192 - Hollow Point (not AP)
SB193 - AP Subsonic
SS195 - "Green" - lead free hollow point projectile with copper jacket (not AP)
SS196 - Sporting round (Hornady 40 gr. V-max, hollow point lead), (not AP)
10700004 Blank (not classified as ammunition under Federal law)
10700005 Dummy

Ammunition includes cartridge cases, primers, bullets or propellant powder designed for use in any firearm other than an antique firearm. Items
NOT covered include blank ammunition, tear gas ammunition, pellets and nonmetallic shotgun hulls without primers.

Generally, no records are required for ammunition transactions. However, information about the disposition of armor piercing ammunition is
required to be entered into a record by importers, manufacturers, and collectors. A license is not required for dealers in ammunition only. [18 U. S. C. 921( a)( 17) and 922( b)( 5), 27 CFR 178.11]

All 5.7x28mm restricted ammunition, SS190, SS191/L191, and SB193 (armor piercing) is sold only to law enforcement and military agencies. This ammunition is only released and shipped from a U.S. Customs-controlled bonded warehouse (CBW) upon BATFE and U.S. Customs approval.

The ammunition sold to law enforcement and military agencies is tax exempt, and unlawful sale or disposal of the ammunition would be a violation of federal law.

I never had any issues with my MS permit when I carried in FL. One Deputy did make me give him the gun while he went back to run my license etc... though.

And to stay on topic. I carry my 27 with Pearce +1 just about anywhere I go. However if I had it to do over, I'd just get a 23 as it is almost identical in size with my 27 with the Pearce +1...

Trust me... when it comes down to it, there's nothing like quick convenience. Especially when every second/inch counts. Look at my little toy. I don't plan on having a run-in with an elephant, so I figure this will handle anything I could ever get into around here. I can keep it in my pocket with any attire and nobody ever notices. I've known people who can manage a DE just fine. I don't care for them from a reliability standpoint, but if you had the hands for it then you would probably be at a disadvantage with something like that kel-tec. I know I could have stashed my Automag IV with no problem, though I wouldn't carry a target gun.

I could definitely carry my 445 if I swap in a shorter barrel, and that would be reliable too. But with the 10" barrel my only option is to stuff it down the front of my pants so the bulge is well hidden by other things :D
