was wandering where did you purchase these from..certain stores, gun shows, etc? i am wanting to pick one of these up in a month or so when i get my bonus in. also if anyone has pics they can post for me that would help. mainly wanting to see some with different scopes on them, accesories, etc.
FWIW, this will be used to shoot wild hogs that a buddy and i are maintaining for his uncle.

Not sure i would go hog hunting with a .223, I have seen .308 versions as well, or get a 12 Gauge with slugs.

If your going to do any hog hunting i recommend one of these. AR15 are nice, but i wouldn't recommend one for anything more then varmint hunting. The caliber .223 is banned in alot of the northern states for killing deer, hog etc. Just doesn't have what it takes to take a large animal down without it runnin several 100 yards.
My opinion 7.62x39 ftw

here we go with the caliber debate. its not abotu round size its about round placement. an elephant can be killed with a .22 round in the right spot. True story btw, same guy did it twice. ask bill and alice dickenson

Shooting them in the ear up close in a cage doesn't count. Everyone that has been hog hunting knows that they are alot easier put down with something measuring .30 caliber. Their is no caliber debate, a 125 gr 7.62x39 is a far superior round then 50gr .223 when it comes to doing damage on a animal that will run 100 yards on nerves alone. Here is a pic of a hog that we shot 4:00 am yesterday morning. We waited till the sun to come up to take the pic. The firearm of choice in this pic was a ruger 30-06 150gr. I do alot of hog hunting, and from my personal experience I would recommend a SKS, or a AK47, or something that is .30 caliber +, or I would use 3 bay dogs, a pit, and a 12 in knife :D BTW, that shot was at 50 yards, and the 30-06 round entered the left shoulder and didn't exit.

You giving any sausage away?. :D
I saw 3 at a local pawn shop, prices started at $999 and went to $1499. If they had the actual price they wanted I probably would have bought one, just didn't feel like haggling this weekend.

If you were closer I would give you some. I give alot more away then I eat. That hog we took yesterday morning, the shoulders were blown, so all that was good was the hind's, ribs, and backstrap.
That shot was a really good shot, 4am night, 50 or so yards, and right when we spotted them they started to run, so it was a running shot.

I should have took a closer pic on that SOWs teeth. Theres a reason why the MOB used hogs to cover up their Hits. Teeth are kinda like a sharks, theres alot of them, and they are very jagged. Very nice for crushing bone.
Hogs will eat anything, they have been know to take calves at night.

my buddy's brother in law was telling me about this kid and his dad that were mauled/killed by a big momma sow down near their lease... aparently the kid had shot a younger hog, got off the stand to check it out, big momma ran up on him and mauled/killed him, and at some point the kid's father came down to see what was going on and the sow killed him too...
asked him what they use as bait in their hog traps and he said corn sprayed w/ diesel... any animal that readily consumes diesel fuel is obviously hard fucking core and will fuck you up! ;)

True, Anything that will stink they will eat. I just put corn out, and after it rains and gets smelly, they start to come. Best way to do it, is find them. You can smell a mudhole yards away. Just go in guns blazen.

Exactly, a M1a scout gun would be perfect for hogs, long as you don't mind the weight of the gun. A 168gr bullet carries so much more energy than a 55gr bullet..and thats what you need to put down something chargeing ya!

it's a primary MOS. I have worked primarly on m-16 A2's and also the M4 Carbines and 9mm pistols...but also had some experience with M249, M240G, .50 CAL, MK-19, AT-4 Rocket Launchers, and some 80MM mortar tubes. Those are primarly the infantry weapons used by the Marine Corps.
2111 was a great MOS. I loved it, but still don't own a gun and never have.
