View Full Version : Starting to play with headlights a little....

I haven't messed with cleaning up headlights very much. Decided to play with the neighbors a little, and see what I could do. He never could get these headlights clean no matter how much he washed them.


Looks a lot better in person than it does in the pictures. What do you guys think?

i use optimum compund or metal polish with a porter cable 7424

I used AIM gel toothpaste on a buffer :)

clean/clear headlights makes such a huge difference in how the vehicle looks and it also helps visibility at night!

be sure to tell him to wax them a couple/few times a year. the yellowing is oxidation (like rust) and keeping the polycarbonate sealed from the elements will keep them from clouding up

You used what? toothpaste?


I need to buff the ones on the prelude, they are starting to get pretty yellow...

it polishes yo teefs, why wouldn't it polish polycarbonate? :D

You can wetsand and buff headlight housings, I've been doing it since back in the mid 90's...The sanding can also remove light rock chips too

I use 1500 or 2k grit, followed by 3M prefect-it 3k compund...Same procedure as paint mostly(minus the glazing and finishing)
