What does everyone use for drying?

I've been pretty disappointed with both chamois (natural and synthetic) and waffle weave microfiber. Both do their fair share of smearing the water around, although the former does it much less than that latter. End result is fine, I go over the entire car again with detailing spray and a microfiber. However, that's one more time over the entire finish, and I'd like to reduce that so I don't have as much chance to cause more swirls.

California water blade & a natural chamois. I have heard some neg about the blade, but I've been using it for years & I trust it on my 07 Black stang!
The leaf blower works good when yer at home, but not at the car wash. :cool:

I use two large microfiber towels. I use one towel to get the bulk of the water off, then go back over it with a new, dry microfiber towel to get all of the residual water off.

1) use a bit less soap
2) undo the hose and let the water run over the car, leaves less water droplets
3) dry with SOFT cotton towel
4) go over with a microfiber for left over water

Wound up with less swirls and looks damn good

Unfortunately, in Collin county (as well as others) we haven't been able to hand-wash our cars for quite some time. Best I've come up with is taking my stuff to the car wash, but it's still not nearly as good when you must use the high pressure washer.

I use a couple of Meguiar's Water Magnets. They work awesome for me. The important thing to remember is when you wash/dry them, you have to make sure you are not using any kind of fabric softener. The fabric softener accually repels water and will prevent the towel from doing it's job correctly, this holds true to any drying towel that you use on your car not just the Water Magnets.

Unfortunately, in Collin county (as well as others) we haven't been able to hand-wash our cars for quite some time. Best I've come up with is taking my stuff to the car wash, but it's still not nearly as good when you must use the high pressure washer.


Check out a product called QEW(Quick Easy Wash). It's completely safe to use, and you can wash it yourself without any running water. You could even wash your car inside the garage. I've had a huge success using this product. Only down side is, the only place I've found it locally is Camping World up in Denton off of 35.

I have used those Absorbers for years. I like them. Work pretty well. I have 2 of them. I used one for getting the water off right after rinsing and the other to follow up. Make sure they are slightly damp first.

I use and absorber as well, but just one (guess I'm lazy) I just make sure it's damp, and ring it out every once in a while. They speed up the drying process quite a bit, and don't leave any water spots.
