I downloaded Yahoo toolbar that has spyware on it. Might try that.

Get Ad Aware, the personal version is free and works alot better then the others. If that doesn't get rid of it you'll have to use HijackThis. Heres a link for Ad Aware http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

Yeah, I've got Norton and MacAfee [or whatev]
And so far, I havent gotten any viruses.

Then I have Google/Yahoo toolbar to block the pop-ups.

Works for me.

You still get Spyware with those I have found out, so its good to have a spyware checker.

Correct me if I'm wrong but running Anti Virus doesn't necessarily protect you from Spyware. Is that correct?

That being said. I run the free versions of Microsoft Windows Defender and AdAware.

I run both spybot and ad-aware....and they both pick up different things. I would recommend running both.

Firefox wont save you. McAfee and Norton are worthless, as are the Microsoft "removal" tools. Spybot is decent, Ad-Aware is the best that has been mentioned. I would check out Spy Sweeper. Its only a trial version, but give it a shot. Hasnt let me down yet.

well when I got my computer first thing I did was download firefox. I have never installed any spyware programs, or any antivirus programs and I have never had any popups or any programs install by themselves. I'm sure if i installed a spyware program I would have some, but I'm happy with how my computers doing after a year and ahalf.

I've used IE and Firefox together and havent had a single problem. Its called smart browsing. Firefox is far from safe
