Is it just me, or do you get a shitload of pop-ups (new windows) open when you use Google? I was doing a search for some Oracle errors today, and never even clicked a link, just on the Google results page, and 2 windows opened. Shit, might as well just use Yahoo, at least I don't get these fucken windows popping open!

Google doesn't have pop ups, you might want to check for spyware.

Sounds like spyware on your system. No pop ups and I use Google about a million times a day.

This is at work, so I have the corporate anti-everything running all the time (no say in the matter, it is always on). I ran a manual scan, no hits. weird, I hate my laptop...

I have yet to see a single spyware tool that can get rid of everything. Best bet is to scan with multiple programs to catch all of it.

Absolutely meaningless.
Most of those anti spyware/ anti malware / anti virus apps can't catch the majority of crap out there. Even the good ones like AdAware can't catch them all. Once you're infected, one of the first things malware/spyware does is to disable all that stuff.
Here's some advice: If you're not using Firefox, get it and use it. At the VERY least, get IE 7.0.
If you REALLY want to be safe, then go build a Virtual Machine with VMware Server and run it under VMware Player (both are free) You can then set the virtual disk to Non Persistent. If you get infected, just reset the virtual disk and everything is instantly gone.
Anytime I'm downloading something, I download it to a virtual machine first. If it launches clean, I'll try it on my regular system. If it messes up my VM, I just reset and go back to the clean disk I had before. Works like a champ.
