I would buy 2 AK's or SKS' before I bought another AR. I have both, and the AR is an overpriced piece of plastic. Dont get me wrong, they are a nice gun, but for the price and the reliability factor....the cheap AK is a lot better gun, espically on a budget.

The Sig rifle for here in the states is suppose to retail at $1300. It'll probably go for more for the time being until production catches up and the hype goes down. For once someone can have a Sig assault rifle variant and not have to pay $9k for a semi automatic rifle Sig. :rolleyes: :)

It took the XD about a month to start rusting on the slide and onto the barrel. I have never, EVER, had that problem with my Glock. Glocks however have a tennifer finish that won't rust. You basically have to leave it in a bucket of water for it to rust.

The Glocks have a great crisp trigger. A really short trigger reset. They are pretty cheap, accessories are everywhere.

I must admit that I was not a Glock fan in the beginning. Couldn't shoot it for shit. But after settling down and mastering the Glock, how it functions, shoots, feels... etc. I have bought 4 so far and I can shoot it better than a match grade 1911.

I shoot 1,000 rounds a week and the XD had some parts break, jams and the stainless slide was rusted. I however do give a shit what a Glock can take. I want to know that after 47,XXX rounds that it has NEVER, EVER jammed, rusted, broke, or siezed. (It hasn't) So you keep telling yourself that it's tolerances are crap... because I don't know about you, but I want a gun that can take anything I can throw at it.

It's a Beretta 9000S. Just bought it. Shoots well, but the seller put some sort of adapters to use Beretta 92 15rd. magazines and they jam the gun every round so I have to stick w/ the 10rd. mags.

I've know many folks over the years that have used AKs/SKSs/Mini 14s as true "ranch rifles."

I've got a coupla SKSs and a Mosin or two and had been meaning to pick up an FAL after having a blast shooting a buddy's. I'll probably move up the timetable on that now given the changing of the guard up in D.C.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want something for a good varmint gun and thats accurate up to 300+ yards then a ar-15 will do just fine. If you want something with a little more stopping power, and a more brush type gun something you can drag through the wood and not worry about tearing up, but is still accurate up to 100 yards then go with the ak47.

If you go with a AK i suggest a Norinco, because Norinco's receivers are made out of 1.5mm stamped steel, and most of the others like your WASR's are made from 1.0mm stamped steel. If money is no object then just find one with a milled receiver and be done with it.

SBR rules are fucking lame. Pay a $200 tax for a shorter gun and then you still have to file a 5320 if you want to take it out of your state. :rolleyes:

Glock is one of the most well designed weapons ever made. To me, every weapon has a purpose BUT it comes down to personal preference. If I was in the "shit" I would want nothing more than a Glock. I hate how a lot of people are getting on this "anti-glock" wagon. Show me a weapon that will out last and out perform a Glock and then we will talk about it but until then....Glock rules the day. By the way I carry a 1911 because it serves my purpose better than anything else.

Don't ever have a closed mind when it comes to training or weapons. If you do, you have already lost the fight.

Glock is one of the most well designed weapons ever made. To me, every weapon has a purpose BUT it comes down to personal preference. If I was in the "shit" I would want nothing more than a Glock. I hate how a lot of people are getting on this "anti-glock" wagon. Show me a weapon that will out last and out perform a Glock and then we will talk about it but until then....Glock rules the day. By the way I carry a 1911 because it serves my purpose better than anything else.

If you abused a 1911 like you could a Glock, it would be a hunk of shit. 1911's are very temperamental but they allow for fine tuning for competitions and such. Thats why I use one.

if they couldnt take the abuse im sure the govt would have found something else rather than sticking with them from 1912-198x. i am also sure they wouldnt still be in use by some.

Just a FYI:

The most reliable handgun on the market is a Double Action REVOLVER.

They don't Jamb, They don't Miss feed, hell even if they have a misfire, just pull the trigger again, and it will feed the next round.

Now using your comparison with Glock as the best manufacturer of handguns since 70% of the police departments use them is like pissing into the wind.

The MILITARY uses Beretta's, 1911's, and a couple of other manufacturers. Their requirements were quite tough on pistol design. They required something like 2000-5000 rounds to be fired out of them without any mechanical failures. If I do recall correctly, Glock didn't pass this test, but the gold old Beretta 92's and 1911's did.

Again, your arguements about the police departments is like pissing in the wind because it was known that Glock made HUGE discounts for police departments to buy their guns and they were in fact the cheapest bidder.

Eh... it probably would have been OK without a scope on it. To mount optics, you have to use a claw mount. But the CETMEs (most of them) have stamped receivers, aka. thin metal. If you clamp the scope mount too tight, it would actually pinch the recevier and the action would not cycle properly. That and even with set screws the mount would jump around.
I put about 100 rounds through it and sold it. :o
