Just heard this kid switched him verbal to OU this week after visiting. He should be there in the spring, maybe someone to compete for the job next season?
Elite 11 quarterback Keith Nichol has decided to de-commit from Michigan State and commit to Oklahoma according to Nichol's father Gary Nichol, who spoke to Spartanmag.com while snowed in on campus at OU.
Jim Comparoni
Keith Nichol has decided to switch his commitment from Michigan State to Oklahoma.
Nichol made his decision during a mid-week official visit to Norman. The Lowell quarterback called Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio to inform him of his change of heart.
"Keith was so impressed with the people and players and the environment at Oklahoma," said Gary Nichol. "He just loved it here. We are actually still here; we got snowed in and are hoping to leave for home in the morning."
Dantonio wished Nichol the best of luck said Mr. Nichol. Dantonio also told the Nichols that he appreciated how timely and honest they had been with him.
"He was fine with Keith's decision and he appreciated the fact that Keith called and talked to him directly," said Gary Nichol. "He told us that if anything changed to give him a call back."
The decision was difficult for the Nichols as a family. The distance away from home was a drawback for Keith Nichol and his family as was the fact that Keith Nichol has a longtime girlfriend in Lowell.
It was also difficult for Keith Nichol to say no to Michigan State after being committed to the Spartans for nearly two years.
Nichol had no intention of committing to Oklahoma when he stepped off the plane in Norman. But his father said that the entire situation at Oklahoma felt right from the staff, the players, and all the way down to the facilities.
"He knew today that it was what he wanted," said Mr. Nichol. "It was really about the people."
Nichol will enroll early at Oklahoma and begin taking classes in January.
Nichol would have been the first Elite 11 quarterback at Michigan State since Drew Stanton.

Stoops has been all over Brantley ('Horns recruit) trying to get him to change his commitment. I guess Stoops couldn't get a clue when Brantley told him multiple times to stop trying, LOL. Stoops better hope this guy can do something because they are EXTREMELY thin at QB next year.

Texas should play today not OU. Texas just gave the Big 12 championship to OU. They didnt desreve to go. A team that barely beat UAB doesnt deserve to go to any championship game.

I'd rather barely beat UAB than lose to KSU.
Besides, I don't remember too many Texas fans bitching in 2001 when they snuck in the back door thanks to an OU loss.

You are an idiot, they convert a reciever to QB/ lose Peterson lost one game by mistake (everyone agrees the PAC 10 Officials at cost them the game, period). So even with the loss of AP and the starting QB Bomar with no high profile QB they did good(better than UT at seasons end record wise by the way) and now are ranked above UT. Honestly had they not lost the Oregon game they would be a top 4 team currently, so the refs basically screwed OU out of the title consideration. Then lets look at UT, they lose their QB in two games to unranked opponents and lose, so what does that say about the coaching/teams ability to pick it up when the chips are down? OU got it done this season when it counted my hat is off to them, I don't like them for beating us by 1 but I respect them.

now what the fuck does that have to do with what he said?? He said Stoops couldn't get Brantley away from Texas and that OU is thin at qb, both TRUE. What does your response have to do with that? I think you quoted the wrong thing. If you ment to quote venom, then good job taking what he said and going the total oposite direction

He didn't do that well this year, but he definately picked it up towards the end of the season. Stoops did the right thing by making Thompson roll out of the pocket and buy more time to throw and make the play.

Im not crying cause Texas is not there. They dont deserve to be there either. Just dont believe OU should be there. They got lucky this year. Barely but UAB  win by one point to A&M  and then win by 3 against OSU . Wow that sounds like a strong team. Also I just hate OU and I hate people from OK and hate all the OU lovers. Just some big pussies if you ask me. Big shit talkers.

How could OU not deserve to be there? They got the wins. Who cares by how much? I do not like the way Stoops plays with a lead. One of the only knocks I have against him. He gets too conservative and let's teams still have a chance to beat them(Oregon).
I bet you don't think OU deserved the NC in 2000 either right? I mean they only beat A&M by 4, OSU by 5, KSU by 3 and only scored 13 points in the NC game.

Florida State... who had one of the best offenses in the nation and scored only 2 points. Which was my point... OU focuses on defense and doing just enough to win instead of putting the hammer on teams like they used to. Look at Texas last year... they made sure no team was even close. Margin of victory doesn't mean what it used to, but it removes a lot of doubt IMO.

Thats right one of my friends is a big FSU, so yes I was going for OU that year. But I agree with you on the margin of victory. In almost every game for OU (besides the Texas/ou game :p ) seems close to me. Myabe they had a couple of games they blew the other team away. But most of the games it could have gone either way.

OU deserved to be where they were. They finished strong and UT didnt.
Seems like alot of UT fans dont remember the gift wrapped champ game we recieved a few years ago. It happens, sometimes for you sometimes against you...
Personally im tired of hearing about paul thompson. he's been a QB all of his life. he was recruited as a QB and learned the system at OU. The guy gets moved to WR one year to make room for Bohmar, and now due to circumstances is back at QB. Sure he lost good junior game time experience but i think too many people get caught up in the 'well look how well our convert WR has done'... and thats really not the case.
Anyway... hats off to OU. You now get the double jeopardy task of Boise State.
Win and everyone will say you played a nobody...
Lose and everyone will say how bad you are...

So who should have been there? Because if Texas and OU don't deserve it, then that leaves Tech (who OU beat), A&M (who OU beat), Baylor (who OU beat), and OSU (who OU beat). Sometimes you win because you play well, and sometimes you get lucky. I suppose Texas has never had a lucky win though, right? *Edit* Forgot to roll my eyes...

I think A&M should have gone.
But they barely beat Army (by 4), barely beat Kansas (by 3), OSU (by 1 thanks to a missed extra point in OT). A 3-9 team, and two 6-6 teams. And they also lost 3 conference games, yes, they were close loses, but it was 3 loses. They did beat up on The Citidel, Lousiana Tech, and La Lafayette though. The only games they won by a good margin were three of their first four. And the best record out of those first four teams is 6-6.
Can I get a little more explanation on why A&M should go, since OU shouldn't go for barely winning a couple of games?

yeah and ohio state doesnt deserve to be in the championship game i mean come on.i agree it was fortunate(lucky) that texas lost those two games, but they did lose 2 games and ou lost only 1. thats the way the system works it goes by wins and losses just like florida was lucky usc lost and so on.
maybe we should let you brainiacs choose conference champs every year since u clearly know who deserves it anyway, regardless of what happened on the field.

I don't agree with what he's saying, but his logic is that since Texas beat OU and then A&M beat Texas, A&M should go. Things don't work this way and thank goodness they don't.
It definately sucks that Texas beat OU head-to-head, but OU still got to go represent the South because of Texas bad luck/playing like crap in their last two games, but thats how it rolls.

I understand what you are saying, but then that is negated because OU beat A&M, so you end up with a triangle of head-to-head (Texas beats OU, OU beats A&M, A&M beats UT). So then you have to move on to other factors, conference record for instance. I'm not trying to argue with you venom because I know you don't agree with it, just pointing out why that justification doesn't work. I think ESPN did something like this years ago and it put a really badly ranked (higher than 75 I believe) team in the title game.

I totally understand that with OU winning against A&M it negates that argument.
I'm more pissed about the fact that Nebraska is getting a better bowl bid even though Texas has just as good of a record and beat them head-to-head. Texas deserves to be in the Cotton Bowl.

I agree. Although the Nebraska - Auburn matchup should be a good one. I was really hoping to see Texas vs Arkansas. If all the bowls play out like they should, the best matchup (in my opinion) will be the Rose Bowl with Michigan and USC. Both good teams looking to make a statement. (OSU, OU, LU should all win their BCS Games, obviously it is college football and anything can happen). ND-LSU could be a good one, but I'm not an Irish fan and I hate LSU's coach, so I probably won't even watch.

I know what you are saying and I agree to a point, but it sure comes across like whining. tu did not do what it takes to get into the championship game, and trying to rationalize it is pointless.
This isn't the first time the "best" team in a conference has not gotten to go to the big game. ESPN showed how 3-4 teams have missed their conference championship game in the last few years even though they were better on paper than the teams that made it. It matters how you perform on the field when it counts, that's why they play the games.
