not a fan of the rematch personally.
i dont think its good for the game... a rematch in consecutive games basically proves that what you did on the field doesnt matter for the NC game.

You didn't think a rematch for the NC was a bad idea when suggested in the Auburn vs. Georgia thread around 11/11 when UT only had one loss and someone stated UT might back into the NC ;)
A 1-loss team getting to the NC wouldnt be backing into anything?? Its pretty much guaranteed there will be a 1-loss team at this point.
Texas has also been the highest human ranked 1-loss team the entire year.

He knows I am just messing with him, he is one of the easiest going UT fans on the board. I'm not sure why you felt the need to defend David though, he is very capable and sharp when it comes to college games, unlike yourself ;) .

LOL... :o
its really just the consecutive thing that is bothering me.
it just doesnt seem fair to the kids at OSU to have to 'prove' they are #1 by playing the same team again in back to back games.
i think an early loss to a team and then playing again is acceptable. in Texas' case there would have been 10 weeks or respective football between matchups. alot changes over the course of the year and with a few lucky breaks with the computers and other factors like teams losing sometimes rematches happen based on being the best of the rest. i also think the Texas matchup posed an interesting story line in that they are essentially 1-1. a NC rematch could have been seen as a tiebreaker to one of the best nonconf matchups in a LONG time. this isnt just a Texas thing either. if Michigan has played OSU back in september and finished out strong i would most likely feel completely ok with the decision. seeing a team in action for a few weeks after a loss tells much more about a team than the day they took a L. most teams have to continue to prove they are #2 after taking a loss. Michigan seems to have avoided that hurdle this year.
it is what it is though... i do think that when its all said and done that USC will take the #2 spot... which is quite impressive after losing the talent they had last year.

fuck the bcs arkansas is the best one loss team this is total bullshit. it is espn just saying that mich deserves to be there.
but in all honesty I think it should be either UF or ARK winner or ND/USC winner to get a shot at TOSU. mich had their chance and fucked it off.

Ya, If Arkansas and Florida win their next game and play, then the best winner from that or the USC/ND game should go in. The loser of the USC/ND will go to the Rose Bowl to face Mich. And if the loser of the Florida/Ark game goes to the Capital One Bowl. The most dominant winner of the two games goes to NC. The less dominant loser the Sugar Bowl.
Any problems with that?!?!

if you mean if one teams looks more dominant like ark wins by 20 pts and nd wins by say 7 than ark should go, or vise versa on scores nd should go, then yea that would be the best case for it to work the way they wanted it to.

the only problem with ark. or nd jumping usc and michigan to go to the nc game would be this. People or voters are going to say, but Arkansas lost to USC in the first game by 30 something points so they shouldn't jump over USC if USC doesn't lose again. Then the others will say but ND shouldn't go if they win out cause they got their ass handed to them by Michigan early in the year. It would be the same way if Texas still only had 1 loss and OSU had lost that game, no way UT would've jumped them.
anybody get what i'm saying?
I have no problem with Michigan going to the NC game, whatever keeps ND and USC out of it is fine by me :D I'd rather see Florida in it too, but not Arkansas.
