Why in the fuck if they stopped racing and a BUNCH of people seen my damn fireball from hell, NO FIRE CREW CAME DOWN TO CHECK ON ME?
I had already walked over to see what blew off the car, picked up some stuff of the track and the guy I was racing gave me a ride back to my car, before ANY track personel came over....one EMS lady and one guy in a cart with no fire equipment.
The guy I was racing put out the fire in the grass the my air filter caused.
I had a fire under the hood for a LONG way down the track.
THIS WAS NOT COOL AT ALL!

My first guess is no one saw it. I was watching the car most of the way down the track and I guess I turned at just the right time and didn't see it either. From where I was standing, you coudln't even see the car, Or I don't remember seeing it.
You can't see everything, everytime. unfortunately. At least Louise will live to see another day at the track.

Prove your point! Are you kidding!
Assuming the car was not at WOT and the timing is much HIGHER, fuel and dope are still getting into the intake track and will ignite at the WRONG time....IE timing...Too much or too little does the same thing. BOOM!
Cut the car off when you sense the juice is still flowing...once you get the engine shut down, cut the bottles off too!
Pull the hood off unplug ignition and pull plugs if you have to...Spin the motor over for a little while and pump all the nitrous and fuel mixtures out the cylinders...and wammy. You still have a nice hood and intake intact for that Mach.
This is another reason WHY i dont mount bottles out of drivers reach! Theres nothing better then cutting the bottles off manually when something hangs open...You just learned that expensive and hard lesson...It hits you in the pocket book :(

Solenoids get stuck from trash 90% of the time...
I believe he is even running a standalone fuel setup correct?
If thats the case, i bet he puts a fuel filter on that setup as well as a nitrous filter in the main line to catch that shit!!!

No he wasn't running a stand alone.. Just the line off the fuel rail.. I know he has a Nitrous filter inline.. I don't use a Nitrous filter but I do have one on my main bottle at home I use to fill my tanks with..

Solenoids can alos freeze open from excessive bottle pressure - You'll have problems getting it to "hit" and once it does... it won't shut. :(

Depending on the noid..yes it can be the case..NOS solenoids are weak..but ive hit the NX solenoids hard and had no issues from them...Their windings are a little nicer though.
I hope he doesnt try to SPRAY it at 1200psi on a wet kit..The initial hit without proper jetting would be LEAN.
Then again...its not even liquid nitrous..itsmore vapor at that psi then anything.

They didnt care about any of the racing except the Match Races and the Bikes. The Brackets too. So once you were off the track they didnt care anymore. I went to the fall cruise two years ago and it was alot of fun. This time sucked, the guys in the staging lanes were complete dicks. There was one that was ok, but the rest didnt care about any TNT and there was no classes that I could enter in because all the street cars had to run 6.40's or faster. I think that is the last time I will be at any of the cruise events.

No it wouldn't be lean. The car is already in open loop when the nitrous hits.
I think this new carbon fiber aluminum bodied noids are WEAKER.
Buy a damned fire extinguisher. I set my shit on fire once, along with my foot, I always have one in my car now.

I don't know.. Mine work flawlessly everytime, and I run em at 1000-1100psi... When I put this new Nitrous system in I did rewire everything with all new wire, switches, relays, etc. Soldered all connections and heat shrinked all wires that were soldered.. I made sure that there were no bad connections due to wiring problems.. You had a problem with your Full throttle switch earlier and after that, this shit happened.. Sounds like too much bad shit at one time..

Mike...Your full of doody about shutting the car off first. When I crossed the line and let off, the car didn't slow down! I thought I had a stuck throttle. I checked and didn't so I knew it was a stuck noid of some sort, so the only logical thing to do was kill the power to the nitrous system. It STILL didn't do a damn thing when I killed the nitrous power! The only thing to do next was kill the car.........the return curve was coming up quick! The boombitch happened when I killed the car! I had to turn the car back on to unlock the steering to make it aroud the return road curve and keep the car going to blow out the fire. The boombitch is what finally shut the noid!
No........I wasn't running the bottle pressure at 1200. It got close earlier so I purged some off and that run was just shy of 1000psi.

You pull the nitrous solenoid apart yet? If it wasn't from excessive pressure or faulty wiring then there is a good chance of trash sitting under the solenoid piston.

Not yet.
NX told me a little while a go that these particular noids(aluminum body) can have the threads break off if the fittings are installed too tight. :(
I DOUBT if there was any trash from the line or like teflon tape. I was anal as heck about that when putting it together.

I became a dealer and bought 5 fire suppression kits back when tommy tutone's car burn't. 2 are for my car (engine & drivers compartment) and the rest are still for sale. Cheap. And are listed in the classifieds. I have never understood why most fast cars and ALL nitrous cars don't have one. Cheap insurance if you ask me. IMO, fire extinquishers don't help much because by the time you get stopped, get the extinquisher and open the hood it's too late and that's if you are not upside down.
Sorry 'bout your car Bill. Good luck.
