I have to say that I am just still in shock over the loss, he was just to cocky, but hopefully he has come back down to reality.

He looked out of shape to me, at least compared to his last fight. I still don't understand why he couldn't get out of that clinch he was in, he's not a weak guy afterallhttp://www.westsidemustangs.com/forums/Smileys/wsm/suspicious.gif

He had a black eye from sparring before the fight even started.

i called the outcome of that fight hours before it even happened. he's a big time Chute Boxe guy from PRIDE, and he is also a BJJ black belt... as for his style, he looks an awful lot like another vicious striker who also has the last name Silva... ;) why are you shocked? there's a reason PRIDE guys fear silva. it isn't because he's "not a nice guy" either!

As I said in another thread....I was shocked to see Rich's lack of defense for the clinch. He looked like he had never been in one before and got totally dominated.

My buddy and I were discussing this after we watched the fight. He(franklin) tried to back away from it when Silva had his hands locked around rich's head. All you have to do is put your arms down in an X position and duck out of it. Maybe he wasn't thinking clearly or hadn't fought many muay thai style guys  I know the type of fighter he is though, and he will definitely be back and a better fighter than before.

really if it was that easy to get out of the clinch, he would have.

Didn't you notice that everytime he pu his hands down Silva went for his side, or head? He couldn't get out of that clinch. His only way out of that was to jump to guard, try for a takedown, or try to be more dominate in the clinch.

Silva had him right where he wanted him, Franklin didn't have a lot of places to go, and looked totally suprised by it.

How many times have you been in the clinch?

Ducking down is wrong.....bang in da head by da knee my friend.

Backing away is wrong....just what Silva wants, distance to load up those knees all the while still has control of his head through the clinch.

ive never done muay thai but i would think trying to keep your posture straight up and bringing your hands inside the clinch to break the other guys hold would be the way to get out. im sure its alot easier said than done. some guys grips are unbreakable.
i watched the fight during my lunch break again. those knees to the body were fucking crazy.

he left Chute Boxe in 03 or 04 to start MTDT. i was just making a point about a lot of Chute Boxe guys being good fighters.
