My system is about 4 years old and I'm wanting to upgrade it a little bit. I'm so behind on all the hardware that's out. I mainly do internet, games, and then photo/video editing on my system.
Here's what I got and tell me what you'd suggest for upgrading and what you'd go with.
2.53 Gig Pentium4
512Mb DDR Ram
160gig hard drive
GeForce4 4600 TI (think it's the 128mb)
Audio Audigy 2 sound card
Not too sure on other specs...

Processor is still up to task
Id deff get another 512mb stick/ram. Atleast.
Depending on what kind of gaming you do, you might want to upgrade your video card.

Yeah I was thinking some more RAM definitely. How about the video card? What's popular right now? And would I have to change out the fans?
I do alot of MMORPG.

I have 1g of ram and I do fine with WoW... i'll be getting another gig just cause.
So i'd upgraded to 2g's of ram and get an upgraded video card. You can get a pretty cheap 256mb these days.

If I have 512 of ram with an extra slot for another stick of ram... can i just replace the 512 stick with a 1 gig stick... then add another 1gig stick to have 2gig of ram?

you probably wont "NEED" 2gigs of ram. I would just add a 1gb stick with what you got. No sense in wasting money on 2 sticks. Check prices..you probably wont want to buy 2gb...itsexpensive

Can I just add a 1gig stick to my computer? Like will the memory slots hold any amount of memory?

yes you can, if your MOBO supports dual channel memory, and you wanted to take advantage or it then you would have to buy a matched pair...
you need at least 1 gig anymore... As far as video cards go, all the latest and greatest are Pci express now not AGP, but you can probably find a good deal on a radeon 9800 pro, or something similar on ebay...

My friend has the AGP version of the GeForce 6800GT OC (the BFGTech version that is OC'd out of the box) and he loves it. One other thing you might want to check before you go throwing a bunch of shiny new shit at it is your Power Supply. If it isnt up to par, you could end up frying your whole system and having to start all over.

you need to get the model number of the motherboard and look it up. Im guessing it will since you have a 2+ghz processor.

processor is still good, first thing would be more ram 1 gig stick should do it, then id get another video card. for the video card my suggestion if you have the money get a x 1900 or if you want to wait for the direct x 10 stuff to come out then do that. id wait for the direct x 10 before i bought a new card espicall if your a hard core gamer. if not then get an x800 at the least. that is what i got and i love the card but im fixing to upgrade myself
