My old one gave out and I have been considering the Porter Cable or Dewalt one to use with a waffle foam pad. Problem is I cannot find a place that sells these things unless you order online. Where have some of you gotten one. My old one is ancient and came from Sears.

I like my Makita.
You should have an automotive paint supply store somewhere close to you, ie: English , Finishmasters, ect. that will stock different variable speed buffers, although they will probably be priced a little higher.

the 109$ one at Lowes is a dual action polisher, i believe. it's not rotary, but gives fantastic results still. It may take a bit longer to use than the rotary, but the risk of burning paint is slim to none!
