and it's a bias, not radial tire right? This means that it should be replaced, and not just remounted..? anyone have experience like this before? TIA

You know, i think my rear is mounted backwards too. But i had it done at cycle werkz, and i know they know how to mount a tire.

if it's backwards, then obviously they dont.

look at the arrow on the tire, it's so easy a stoned 5 year old could do it.

Just curious as I have no idea but why would you have to replace a bias ply tire if it was run the wrong direction? I wouldn't think any modern tires would be bias ply anyway.

That sucks if they screwed up something as simple as that though :(

Just because they know how to put it on doesnt mean its the correct direction ..

Bias-ply tires are ade to spin in one direction...therefor if it is spun in the wrong direction it could cause the ply's of the tire to be damaged/seperate. I wouldn't worrie so much as to go replace it but to each there own.

According to Michelin, this isn't true. I talked to some guy in the motorcycle department about this earlier, because i wanted to know Michelin's take on this. they said with these tires, the only thing that would be affected is the water dispersion and traction, while it was on backwards.

the only way it would be bad is if you took it off and turned it around. Then it would possibly seperate

Again, Michelin denies this. they said that there will be NO adverse effects once i correct the problem. Maybe i should get their statements in writing, just in case.

instead of posting.....go get them to fix it
seems like the right thing to do

i was saying this as a tire tech. I dont think you will have a problem but i still stand by my previous statement

I would be more worried about it being bias-ply than being backwards. :D

Dont pilot power's groves go in different direction's anyway? When I had mine done I told Greg I think it was on backwards and he showed me the arrow on the side and said they made them that way becasue of noise concerns from he was told. I think the groves in the front are suppost to / \ and the ones on the rear are suppost to look like \ /.

Yep, backwards as fuck, heh. I'd take it back up there and tell them they installed it backwards and you want them to fix it.

I've seen people mount street tires backwards intentionally in the past...I think it was with the old D207's. If I recall correctly, because of exactly the reasons stated above (noise and water dispersion), those particular tires supposedly got more traction when ran backwards.

In fact, as I'm typing this, I remember that it was my old FastTrax instructor back in Ohio who ran his D207's backwards on his GSXR750. He was a very, very good (fast!) rider and ran his own garage-based shop. I always trusted his opinion, and didn't challenge him regarding the orientation of the tire. I know he mounted at least 6 tires for me, all backwards.

In any case, I rode 207's backwards for probably 3 years without any problems. But if you're not happy, take it back and bitch. They need to make it right for you.

I wonder how they figured out they get more traction running them backwards.

Alot of people say directional car tires will bite harder when mounted backwards, although longevity will suffer.
