I normaly train chest on a sat, but had to spend 3 hours yesterday helping a buddy unpack all his belongings from the back of an 18 wheeler into 2 full storage units so decided to go lift today.
well, came in feeling kinda tired but ended up setting a new PR on flat bench
135x12 (warmup )
225x12( warmup )
315x3 ( start getting the blood flowing)
followed right away by 365x3 ( last warm up)
so ready to roll
3 work sets
405x7
465 x 5
and my new Personal record....
505 x3 (3rd requred a little spot)
WOT! !!! in the 500s RAW and natural!!
BTW this was a normal Flat bench, not the PL style move.

When we lift heavy we strap our body to the bench so it is a clean bench. Feet on the floor, ass down, shoulders down, 2 second pause on chest, and lift. That is what out trainer makes us do.

So what do you squat? :D
White_lightning
10-01-2006, 11:52 PM
lol.. 505 isnt heavy enough for me to need to strap myself to the bench.. my feet stay Flat on the bench.. so does my back and my ass.
cs. i cant squat owing to a herniated vertibrae.. before i hurt my back though, at 245 i was ass to ankles repping mid 600s.

What lift do you do now for legs since your back is injured? I have the same injury and just curious what you do. Even leg press has proved to be just as dangerous for me if I go anywhere past 90 degrees, sometimes before that point if my legs are already tired. I have dealt with it for years but have just accepted it and know my limits now.

bad.. Legpress. i find instead of going stupid heavy i do big sets.
Like i said. im just getting back into lifting after a year off. my last leg work out was light ( recouping a quad tear).
4 plates x2 sets of 16
5 plates x 2 sets of 16
6 plates x 2 sets of 16
I figure after that as pre-exhaust, i can do something light like 8 or 9 plates of 6-8 and it will hit it hard. Also, i do my legpress very low on the platform to hit the quads mostly instead of high like most ppl to and bring in the hamstring.

When he says raw, he means raw. No shirt, knees at a 90* angle, and back flat on the bench. The real way to bench.

Yea those high reps will destroy shit... I like to aim for 15 reps and then hit the leg extension, low weight but held extensions and hard contractions.

It is hard to tell from the video, but do you wrap your wrists or elbows? I have never wrapped before and I wonder if I should as I lift heavier.
White_lightning
10-16-2006, 02:06 PM
i have cheapo elastic wrist wraps.. they arent supportive enough to be like the competition wraps. but they keep my wrist warm. I have elbow "sleaves". once again. they keep my elbows warm. when i bought them i thought i was getting " elbow wraps" that would help with the lifting, but ended up ordering sleeves that keep your elbow warm.. but hey. what ever i can do to keep safe and un injured.. works. I did find though. with wrist and elbow wraps, they added nothing to my 405 sets.. i did 7-8 reps with no wraps. and 7-8 with wraps.. its more phsycological for me.

Yeah, I am mostly concerned with injury. I have done a few reps with 405 without any problems, but I'm wondering if I should look into it as I get heavier or if I should just wait until I start to experience problems/irritations.
