ok I always get the same shit, "Oh man, the low end, shit its a wheelie monster, no its about the corners, there so unique" yeah yeah its all bullshit give me an F*****n break they suck especially the TLRs. They are horrible anyone that can ride a 4 cyl jap bike can tell the difference. They are heavy slow and dont corner as well. Is any one with me and the next person that wants to PRAISE a V twin can come ride it with me and we'll see. JEEZE enuff god they suck its just a niche bike that douches ride.

I don't think I would go quite that far, but it does get a little old when everyone is raving about low end torque when most inline four 1000's make more. The fact that only a few manufacturers still make vtwins in a production setting says something about the technology. I think they are interesting from a stand point of engine configuration and engineering; however, I think there are more efficient ways to power a motorcycle.

Michael, well said. They sound good, that's about it. :) Oh, and the twin bikes were slimmer than the older style inlines, because the frame spars went around the engine instead of over it, so slimmer engine = slimmer motorcycle.

Well in most of my posts i always admitted they were heavier, handled a little funky and made horsepower and torque in a different manner than an inline.Big fucking deal.I also said they were unique and not so cookie cutter as every GSXR out there.I can compare because i've had my share of sportbikes.

Ride what you want and don't stress so much about what other people ride or like.

People say they are faster on the road coarse but I don't ever see any track records around here being broken by them.

Its all a matter of preference. I actually want both! I'd love to have an RC parked right next to my R1! I love the sound of a twin. Especially one that just makes your windows want to jump out of the frame! There used to be an RC like that in our neighborhood somewhere.

Hey man, i never see you in da hood! Everytime i swing by your house, i alsways see that Telefonica bike in front.

if you never had a good one you wouldnt know what they are like.

vtwins deliver power different than a inline 4
vtwins are like a four stroke 450 ....smoothe
inline4s are like a 2 stroke 250.......straight up crazy

and before you try to bag me i somewhat still own a 03 rc51(selling to a friend) and have a pimped new ride -> a 04 r1(that i'm keeping cause it has so many nice mods done to it)

the rc has a predictable delivery that was smoothe, the r1 has power that hits hard and keeps going. but comparing a 1000cc v to a inline isnt even a same comparison. a 1000cc vtwin would be compared to a 750cc inline. hell look at the ama rule book and you can see what they put together. the duc 999 is the only vtwin that has been able to run with the inlines and they arent gonna race next year. the tlr, rc and whatever else dont even run in the ama anymore(except for privateer racers maybe). but when honda did run the rc it raced against zx7, gsxr750 and a few r7s(all 750 inline 4s)

who gives a fuck? I mean really? I see and here more worthless crap about the new gsxr's than I ever do about a twin.

With that said, I'm perfectly content being a douche on a TLR.

yeah the rc got the plastics melted when my house burnt down and i just recently got it back together. so i bought the r1 to ride while that was down. but sold the rc cause i dont have the time to ride both enough and a yamaha rs warrior too. i got a r1 just cause it was pimped out by the previous owner, i almost bought a 06 r6 but found the r1.

Well after having had Buell XB9S I fell in love with the v-twin. I admit it didn't have the power that a ZX-6 offered but it was the most well balanced and forgiving bike I ever owned, extremely agile, handled like a dream. I had a ZX-6 in the mid 90's and a GSXR-1000 in the early 90's while stationed in Germany in the Army. So I had inlines prior to the Buell, neither were as easy to ride. If you're concerned about the power then I agree the v-twin I owned was a little weak; however, when it came to handling in the corners, the Buell was super light, responded fast and was fluid in motion for even a beginner, turns on a dime, can pull through a corner without the worry of breaking the back tire loose if you give her a little to much throttle etc. Also the Buell lightning won at Daytona in 2005 and was the only bike on display in July 2005 when I visited the speedway for a tour and all. So I think you need to actually ride a few v-twins before you jump to a conclusion based off ingnorance.

An air-cooled V-twin like an H-D or Ducati looks cooler than any inline-4.

Parallel twins are the new guy. I think they are from the snowmobile, watercraft arenas.

Can't get a V-twin up to 14500 rpm's stock like an inline-4 though.

Personally I think a big gas turbine outlet by the swing arm looks cooler than both inline 4 and v-twin. They certainly sound better.

Tell that to the World SBK guys where ducatis are like 80% of the top ten in every race.

So everybody should ride an inline because V-Twins suck!!! I will be a part of that 5% that doesnt follow the mold and stick to my TLR. Funny thing is I bought an 04 R1 brand new and guess whats still in my garage? Hint* It has duel exhaust.
As for the weight........ Its not heavy to everybody. I have no problems dipping it in a corner. As for power... LOL it can wheelie straight up in first and second with no clutch. So I think it has enough power ;)
Chill out man. I'll come ride with you. Not to prove a point, just because I love to ride. If you can handle being seen riding with a ugly twin. :D

wow holy shit talk....look i am not saying that a inline is the bomb or a v twin is god a own both an gsxr and a rc but i can say that the rc it on the road a ton more than the gsxr mostley due to some small motor issues with the gsxr but i have a blast with the rc and have never had a issue with dipping that bike in the twisties so if that makes me a douch that so be it and if you have a prob riding a twin might i suggest a track school...?

besides it's about the ride there not what you ride there..

I rode a moderately powerful twin and it felt like a lawnmower if we're being perfectly honest. this bike made 110RWHP, but it just didn't "do it" for me. I'll stick with my inlines, and it has nothing to do with one or two pipes, or anything like that. I like the rush of speed, so whatever gets me there fastest is bueno in my book.

:D Ill be in the market for another bike sometime soon and I'll be lookin at another inline. :D I don't know what I should do. I love to drag knee but thats to exspensive and dangerous as crap. Id like to run big bikes at the drag strip. Maybe a busa? :D Hmmm maybe a lowered zx10.

My brother has a couple of douche bikes for sale.. see sig..

And my last time out at MSR for the bike races, the paddock was about 50% full of douches..

i loved my TLR. I think mainly just because it was different than my GSXR. It didnt wheelie any better, just WAY easier (for me anyway).

It's all about personal preference. Some prefer inline, and some prefer the V-twins.

It takes some real brains to come on here and call a bunch of people that prefer a different type of bike douches.

Theres a perfectly explainable difference in the v-twin configuration as compared to the inline motor.

The inline and most other 4 cycle engine have 4 sequential strokes.
1 intake
2 compression
3 power
4 exhaust.

Affectionately refered to as.. "Suck, squeeze, bang, blow"

Now a twin on the other hand is different. The power stroke is replaced with additional intake stroke,(suck, squeeze, suck ,blow)
The elimination of the power stroke expains why theres no power in a v-twin.
The extra intake stroke explains why they double suck.

Just kidding around... they can ride whatever they want.

I am out.. unless George Bryce wants to pony up a G2 PSM motor.

.

Ducs aren't air cooled.

I've never really spent any time on a TLR or RC, only a few miles, plenty of time on Ducs.

I like the narrowness of the bikes, well, the Ducs that is, they are TINY bikes. They look like a 250GP bike next to a modern jap liter.

The power delivery is very smooth making them user friendly to ride hard, but it makes them feel slower than they are (which is bad, because they aren't that fast relatively to begin with) and it's nice having that kind of power band for street cruising.

I understand the peak torque may be the same, but the twin seems to come on lower and feels like it's got a lot more area under the curve. It's just nice to not have to wind the shit out of the motor to get into the power, doesn't scare cagers so much, or alert the authorities.
