Have a look at this article, published yesterday in Australia's national newspaper, The Australian

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20469179-7583,00.html

It supports the American War on Terror. Well, nothing new there, you say -- we know the Aussies have been supportive, and have a robustly conservative government.

Ah, but this article is by ... a Marxist-Leninist.

There is a whole organization of these people in Australia, coming from a Maoist background, which sees the defeat of the Islamists, and the extension of democracy, as vital.

Although we conservatives will of course disagree with them, to put it mildly, on lots of things, it is interesting to see some people on the Left who "get it". And these are not liberals, but serious hard-core revolutionists.

Well, we need all the help we can get in this fight, and communists, whatever else they are, are not creampuffs.

They have a website devoted to discussion of this issue, to which they have invited conservatives to contribute. (It's at www.lastsuperpower.net ).

Well, we allied with Stalin to smash Hitler. So a common front with people like this has a historical precedent. The enemy of my enemy ...

At least the communists aren't blowing themselves up to try to get their way.

no, they blow up civilians in schools. I was late and heading for the gym when it blew up and killed a freind of mine, and a US soldier, in Jr High. 1972, Rhein Main. Communists are no different except they learned how to use timers instead of switches about 100 years ago.

Anyone who believes "The enemy of my enemy is my freind" is incapable of understanding a simple poker game. There is only one winner, and even your "freinds" must eventually die or they will kill you.

there is an amusing famous quote that says

"the enemy of my enemy is next"
