Can you retroifit an '07 Mustang IPod connection on to an '05 or '06? Has anyone tried this? Just wondering much Ford changed the wire harness or the base model radio or if the IPod connection just plugs into the wire harness plugs into the open plug the back of the radio for an auxilery item.

one more question, does it actually control the IPod, or does it only play the sound through the speakers?

I an actualy not sure if it plugs into the dock port on the IPod or the head phone jack. Either way, I beileve it just plays the IPod, not control it. Anyone with an '07, please feel free to confirm.

On factory radios, they do not come w/ auxilary input, except for the few cases where there is aux input in the center console. otherwise the only way to play your ipod through the factory radio is if the radio comes w/ the option to control a cd changer. the way to tell is if the first preset button says "disc^" on it. if it does, best buy has a plug in for that that can control the ipod ($150) or merely act as an RCA aux input (~$20-$30).

The factory radio does have an "AUX" button on the face. When I hit it, the radio says that there is no auxilery device detected, or something close to that. If I have an "AUX" button, would it make sense to assume the radio has some form of auxilery input?

yes it would

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piefrd04aux.html Works with the Ford radios with an AUX button

as far as controlling the ipod with the factory radio, i'm not sure. I know it can be done, just not sure if it can with that radio. In my Z, it cannot be done, because I have a 6 disc in dash cd changer, and in my old King Ranch F250, same thing.

Looks like the Gen2 device works on 05-06 Mustangs with the Shaker 500/1000 and will control your ipod with the headunit.

like i said, "in some cases." its just not very often. and like i mentioned somewhere, Peripheral makes an adapter that plugs into a cd changer control port in the back of the headunit if your vehicle is equipped w/ that part. 6-discs dont have that option.

I was at a Best Buy a few weeks ago and the sterio guy showed nothing from Peripheral that fit a mustang newer than '03. I guess it was not in there system yet.

Looks like either one of these should work for me. I'm not too concerned with having to operate the I-Pod it's self, I just wanted to be able to run the sound through the radio with better quality than an FM modulator.

Thanks!

if you have a question that the sales guy cant answer, try the installer, they always know ALOT more than the sales guys.
