He didn't WIN it. It must have been GIVEN to him. They didn't run all the rounds.

I talked to Tony Bourns (# 4 or 5 in T/S; he was driving his dad's capri) - he mentioned that they were just going to pick the car they though was the fastest... .they told him they were doing it like that since it was most likely going to be the outcome anyways. Even though he had already beaten the other "fast" car there with a 10.12 vs. 9.6x
I don't understand why they elected to do it like this..but oh well. It's thier race.

It's been sinking for atleast the last 5 years. All they'd need to do is quit being such cheap asses with true street and you'd see the car count quadruple.
$85 entry fee to win a possible $100, well I guess if you ran low 9s you might be able to get $200. Pretty crappy payout in my opinion. Not to mention inconsistencies in their tech inspections, the cruise and constant rule changes.
That and opening up the pro 5.0 class to the IHRA pro stockers wasn't a good idea. Sure it initially got the car count up but all it did was raise the price of admission up to put it out of range for sportsman racers.

The one complaint I had was that I had to go buy new fittings for the Blow-down tube move my bottle brackets around to get the blow-down tube in there and make sure I had the drive-shaft safety loop installed on my car and my brothers car. Then they didnt even check my car for anything. I am still glad to have it on my car but I dont like how they walked by my car and said this one is easy. Didnt pop my hood or trunk just said you pass.
Kevin
But with all the complaining about FFW True Street I had a blast. I didnt think that many people even went to win any money I thought it was about fun. I like going on the cruise with all the mustangs and stopping the traffic for us I thought it was cool. I dont like the cars that enter and cant even do 50 for the cruise because they arent really street cars but oh well. I hope they have it again next year because I will go again.

It wouldnt be a shitty event if everyone would quit crying about spending $85 on a race because they cant win any money when more than half the people on here spent more than that on a cold-air kit that does nothing for them. But even though there wasnt a lot of people there it was still a fun day.

Not saying I had a shitty time, any chance I can hit the 1320 I will. Just saying that the turn out for True Street was VERY low, the manufactures midway was a joke, and the crowds were VERY small. I would say for FFW it was a shitty event.
If they are back next year will I do True Street again, Hell ya. Based upon this years turn out, if next year drops in car count again, I could end up in the top 10 :D
Provided my damn car doesn't shit on me again and I can complete all 3 passes :o
So no, I had a good time and there were some damn nice cars, but compared to FFW's of years past, this one as a whole sucked.

What do you expect from the so called racers in this area with the weather forcast?
I talked my owners into giving me $600 in gift certificates just for the True Street class. $500 for the overall winner and 4-$25 gift certificates for the 10, 11, 12, and 13 second cars. Just so there would be a little extra reward for the racers.
After taking them to the Fun Ford booth and talking to Crystal (very nice woman), and telling her that Art Carr didn't request that their name be mentioned or anything for this. We just wanted to give back to the racing community. She told me that there was no way that FFW could allow this."Tremec puts enough money into this class already. Could we use them for the car show?" I was like whatever. So they really could care less about True Street......I even told her "Nevermind , just give them back to me and I'll follow them back to the trailer after the event is over" she then said " Out of respect for FFW please don't !" ......................anyways we tried !!

Shit like this is why I stopped going. The people who run it are fucking morons who could care less about their customers. Good thing you didn't talk to Bill Alexander, he probably would have stolen them and kicked you out....LMAO

LMMFAO.................They were given out at the banquet as door prizes! I missed the $500 one by 2 numbers!
I wonder how long a post like that would last over on FFW's board ? I'd love to see someone post it and hear the comments from their members. I dare ya !!
There was a disclaimer on the bottom of all 5 GC's that stated:
This certificate will be null and void if it comes in contact with or is seen within 10' of anyone named Bill DeMay !! :D

I aint about to do it but I'll come in an speak my peace if someone else does it !!;)
I can understand that they wouldn't want to increase the prize pool after negotiating contracts with all the sponsors for the season. I mean your certificates would make Tremec look like a bunch of cheap asses but in reality they threw tons of cash at the event. It might piss them off and they could pull their sponsorship next year or for the remaining events. That and they do offer some sort of contingency program that also is negotiated ahead of time.

Hell, the Motorplex could have a race for Fords like they did for the Chevy's this year. It went over pretty well, it was just too damn hot!

We can't complain, both cars we took won money!! I'll go every year I can. Bigger payouts would be great but people have to come to race for that to happen. It is too bad that they couldn't/wouldn't take the gift certificates and award them to the racers for their standings. However, anyone who thinks they are going to build a street car(or racecar for that matter) and make a bunch of money racing needs to see a doctor. You'll have more fun if you go simply to race and not concentrate on the money---the money is just a bonus if you win. The entry fees have gone up and they are high but the price of everything goes up all the time. Oh well, whatcha gonna do. Hopefully more sponsors will come on board with FFW and the payouts will go up. I'm just glad they are still around at all. If they die out--that's just one more place you won't be racing and that's not good for anyone.

Racers are one thing, but when an event fails to have the draw of manufactures that it has had in the past then there is an issue. Hell, just look at the Ford display. That was the smallest it has ever been. 2 cars and on ly 1 of them was one you could actually purchase?
If this is supposed to be an "Event" then make it that way.
Yes I will go again. Yes I will pay the $85 for True Street. Yes my car will probably break again  But I will still go and have a good time trying to tear it up.
My point is that as a whole, the event was less than spectacular. Hell, almost half of the Manufactures/shops that were out on Sat didn't bother coming back on Sunday? That should say something to FFW?
Hopefully more sponsors will come on board with FFW and the payouts will go up. Sponsors will only come on borad if they see a viable reason to. A large attendance record or customer base as you would call it would be the main reason for them to do so. FFW just isn't drawing the crowds anymore. The NMRA is steadily building steam and doesn't seem to be having any problems. I personally heard at least 3 of the Outlaw guys talking about going over there to race. FFW should pay attention and do whatever it takes to once again become the "Major League of Ford Drag Racing". If not the other organizations will overpower them and leave them in the dust.

I wonder if the NMRA will come back to Texas?
That would be kinda cool!
