Leading the race, went wide in turn 7 ( fighting push all night ) and caught his right front with my left rear and rolled it, then got run over. Lost about a minute or more of my life to " out like a light ". Felt the bump and the next thing I remember is the medic asking me where I was at. Got to ride in the box with lights on it and the whole 9 yards to the E.R.. First for me, not as much fun as I really wanted to have that last night. Concussion, with loss of consciousness, Shoulder sepearation, closed, was the result. Damn it. Lots of pain. No real good drugs untill the CAT scan showed negitive. Kart stearing wheel is got a 30 degree bend to it. Tach/Temp gauges are trashed, and who knows what else is bent or broke. Wife got me home but the truck and gear are being stored at a fellow racers house near the track for now. Now I have to tell my Boss on the new job that I won't be able to work untill after Christmas, Opps. Oh well maybe I still will stay in the top 10 for points for the year. :(

people always think racing bikes is dangerous, but seeing some of those cart wrecks makes me cringe. at least you're able to get home and post about it.

Yeah, I'm surprised they don't have some type of roll bar by now to help avoid neck/spinal injuries.

yeah, most other open wheel classes figured "that roll-over thing" out in the sixties.

i ran karts for 14 years all over the country........no big race car has ever hurt me as bad as a kart.
as far as roll cages, it's hard to get a race car who's suspension is the flex of the chassis and axle, to work with a roll cage.

Tell me this, why dont they run some type of metal bar around the sides of the tire to prevent wheel to wheel contact? I never have understood that. You see them on the carts at the family places. I can understand not using them on an Indy car or F1 car etc, but not on karts.
