ankle problem

I twisted my ankle last week and have been laying off it as much as possible lately. Dr said no tears or fractures were present, but the last couple days Ive had a painfull popping in my ankle and then its fine for 30 mins to a couple hrs. Ive hurt this ankle many times but never had this any ideas?

I broke my ankle a few years back, nothing real bad, but my ankle hasn't been the same since. I know you didn't break it or anything, but I think any kind of stress on your ankle will leave it a little more unstable. Especially with years and years of supporting your body weight.
