Kinda wish I still had my vega now. Now some people are actualy fast enough that they might be brave enough to jump on it.

Same as always, no rules for the cars or people. Seen some fast junk that can't run any where else, and what goes on. Been like that for a long time.

The Creek has always had alot of fast cars out there. No rules, run what ya brung, kind of attitude. Not to mention Danny pays out pretty good on his $$$ meets. The Creek is a little easier to stop at also.

I like the Cedar Creek because I am 15 mins away from the track. They let you drink & smoke the good stuff out there, It has a good crowd for the most part. A little on the rough side. But good none the less & most of all NO RULES. They don't care about you being in the staging lanes & all crowding around & by the burnout box.

The track has a small bump at the end of it. But unless you are running 5s, It really isn't bad.

Say fucking what??? The creek has the shortest shut down room of any track around. Between that and the track being bumpy as fuck it's a bitch to get a car stopped. I used to have to hit the chute before the finish line just to get the car stopped in time.

I have to agree with SLOW on this. I would hate to have a low 6 second car & try & stop it on the shut down road after the 1/8th, But I don't think it is that much shorter then the one at the Belly & I have seen some fast cars out there also.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR WITH TRACKS like the BELLY & CREEK, :D

But for a street car like myself who runs high 7s. I think it's GRRRRRRREEEEAT!

I hope you're not spraying VHT under the tires and doing a dry burnout in the VHT puddle. If so, get ready for a new rearend. :D Doesn't really help traction anyway.

I am going to try a new burnout method for my car Friday. I was backing in to the Burnout box & pulling to the edge of the water box & doing my burnout & heating my tires up that way. But my trans was getting insane HOT, So I have to figure out a new way to burnout with out a burnout so long.

I am thinking of just dropping the PSI to 17psi & just pull out & clean the rocks off real quick & spray some VHT on the ground & back up in to it & then just burnout up to the staging lanes.

What do you think is a good way with out heating up my trans and not breaking my 10 bolt!

What AL P said will help. Do you get any wheel hop(hook, spin, hook, spin...) when you do the burnout in the VHT? I've seen some rearends break just from the wheel hop it causes. Are you running drag radials or slicks? Drag radials I'd start at 15 psi & slicks I would sart out at 12 psi.

I would keep backing into the burnout box(not any other choice at the creek anyway) and roll out about 10 feet from the edge of the box, start your burnout and take it all the way up to the starting line. I really don't think you need the VHT. The starting line is usually pretty sticky over there. Also, no dry hops and don't spin your tires while in the waterbox, it will just throw water up on to the inner fenders and drip down on to the tires.

what i do,is go over and pass the water,do a quick burnout let it go forward a bit, stop and do a quick launch to see if the tires spin. I got my best 60' in the TBSS like that(1.8)

Doing those dry launches let heat out of the tires....don't do a quick launch to see if the tires spin.

Your best bite is going to come right after the burn out. Doing a dry hop is basicly taking away your best shot at hooking up. I used to be just as guilty as anyone for doing that shit and it took me a while to learn that lession. Now I do burn out and stage as soon as possible.

Yello Belly is badass, "run what u brung".
The last couple of times my buddies and I've been to Dallas we have stopped at Yello belly, so after the PINKS deal we talked our buddies from shreveport into stopping there on there way back home. Hell we had as blast until the red 57 got wadded up at the end of the track. But all in all most of them want to go back!!

I have 315/35/17 BFG Drag Radials. I have gotton as low as 1.63 60fts on these tires with backing in to the water & hit em real quick & then pull to the edge of the waterbox & then light em up for about 8 seconds or so. Till I see smoke pouring from both tires & then let off the break & smoke em up to the line & stage. But as I said before, My trans is heating up like mad & will launch really lazy on the Converter & one time I heard a knocking from my car & I shut it off & let it cool. Went back about a hour later & it started right up & ran fine. I assume my trans was just heat soaked. I have a B&M trans cooler on it. But this just started happening this last sat.

This week I want to try some type of other way to heat my tires with out heating them up for 5 to 8 seconds & holding the break while I do the burn out. I was thinking of pulling out in the lane & just hitting it WOT real quick up to the line & then backing back up in to a dry spot & putting a small little puddle of VHT under each rear tire & then burn out real quick on the puddle & then stage.

But from what you are telling me is I am adding to my chance of blowing the 10bolt. Which I don't want.

So what is the best PSI on these tires & best way to get them to hook?

Yes, put the VHT away before that 10 bolt breaks. 1.63 on drag radials at the creek is pretty damn good but I think you can get that without spraying the VHT down! Try 15 psi in tires when they are cold and see what it does. I always found 15 psi to be a good starting point when I ran drag radials.

Just roll out of the water box(don't spin), burn for maybe 3 or 4 secs., let off the brake and smoke em' up to the line. Or, don't even get in the water and try just spinning to the line without doing the powerbrake and see how it does. You might find that you cut the same or better 60'. Couldn't hurt to try especially if you can get at least the same or better results and decrease the risk of breaking parts.

Maybe I'm just used to that track. I remember the 1st time I ran 6.20's in my Chevy II, had a hell of time stopping with the STOCK drums. :D Scarred the hell out of me. Now not a problem.

I went a 5.38 there and went off the end and when I finaly got the car stopped I was staring at a cow standing abuot 5 feet in front of me. I seems it was enjoying the haybails that were set out at the end of the track.

I have a B&M trans cooler on it. But this just started happening this last sat.

How do you have it plumbed? I've got mine running thru the built in cooler in the radiator first, and then to the auxilliary cooler before going back to the trans. The radiator will at least cool the fluid to engine temp, and then the auxilliary cooler should take it down more from there.

Agree with Al P; get a deeper pan also.

Skip the dry hop. Burn them and immediately roll up to the line. Be aware of what the guy in the other lane is doing; if he is screwing around before the burnout then wait before doing yours. Otherwise you are sitting at the line with cooling tires while he has just started doing his burnout.

I will look at it tonight when I get home. But If I remeber right it is ran through the Stock trans cooler through the radiator & then in to the cooler. I have heard that the stock trans cooler we should just bypass & then get two trans coolers with a fan on the first one & get the Derale Deep trans pan. Those guys said they are running 150 just driving & 180 traffic & 185 after a pass. I don't have a trans temp gauge but I am making that one of my prioritys to get next & work on keeping this trans cool. So it will last me & won't break. These 4L60 are to expensive when they break.

I have run derale pans for years; they seem to work well.

Be sure that the flow is first thru the rad and then thru the cooler. Going the other way is not going to work as good.

If the LS1's radiators are setup the same as LT1 cars, I don't see why they wouldn't be, the oulet from the radiator is the only one that has a regular hose on it. The inlet from the trans is a metal line and the outlet has a rubber piece a few inches out from the rad. so you can just unplug it and plug into the trans cooler. Makes it very easyfor installing the cooler.
I've had to have the 4l60E in my old Bird rebuilt and it ain't cheap ;)
