View Full Version : time for a cutting phase?

I've been working out for about 4 months, several times a week. The last 2
months, I've been working out to bulk up, along with a big diet change eating
about twice the amount of food(before I started working out) plus protein
supplements.

I've picked up some gains in muscle mass that I feel good about, but maybe I've
been taking in too many calories because my love-handles have come back with
the muscle mass.
Not a bunch but it got me to thinking that maybe I should start a cutting phase?

Maybe take 2-3 weeks and do low-weight reps, more cardio, cut the shakes and
reduce my caloric intake. I think I'd still eat 6 times a day, but just less food.
I figure if I lose about 8 lbs, it would kick the handles off. This is the first place I
regain fat, so it should come off quickly from where I'm at now.

Any insights on the cutting phase, and when to stop and start it?

Based on what you have said, I think you still have a lot to learn. Sounds like you should have a more definite idea of what exactly you are training and when you are training. Also, what you are eating and why and at certain times of the day. Stick with 6 meals, but not less food. That is where it is about quality, not quantity. It is also very reasonable to maintain BF% while bulking. Its all in the diet. I'm not claiming to know shit, but I have been in your shoes before. Cut or bulk? What are you ultimate goals for your body anyway?
