• The screen is 55 feet tall by 134 feet wide
• The university had to upgrade its utilities capacity to accommodate its power needs
• 40 5-ton air conditioning units are required to cool it
• The heads of the gounding bolts are 5 inches wide
• It is, for the next few months, the world's largest HDTV in existence

I'm glad to see the University spending money on pointless shit. Looks like tuition just increased :)

Don't hate. When your team wins a BCS National Championship, they can have one too. :p

I doubt the 99.9% of the UT students who don't play ball, do pay tuition and actually are attending the University wouldn't agree with the tuition increase. I love how you act as there is a we as in you and UT won a National Title, unless you have a mouse in your pocket or are paying or have paid tuition you have about as much of a tie to UT as does Sadam Hussien  . I think it was a waste of money.

You do realize that Texas and all the other Big 12 schools share the money from all their combined bowl games, right? I'm sure a pretty sizeable portion of that went to this new screen. Its only speculation that tuition is going to increase, not fact.

Actually, A&M built a new screen also this year.
I remember when it was a white light screen that only showed cheesy graphics.

All of the institutions in this great state of ours have been raising tuition to ridiculous amounts, so I wouldn't start flaming t.u. for their tuition.
However, I'll flame the 12th Man Association for the ridiculous football ticket prices this year at A&M.

Both look good. I think the tu one needs a little something on the ends. Maybe framed like the A&M screen.
