Looks like Mr. Pro-Style Offense will have to adjust to the NFL just like Vince Young.
Leinart went 4-11 for 45 yards 0 TD 0 INT and 2 rushes for 29 yards in about a quarter's worth of work.
He also was sacked and subsequently fumbled the ball which was recovered by his RB Marcel Shipp.
Young went 4-11 for 56 yards 0 TD 0 INT and 4 rushes for 28 yards in his first NFL game.
Maybe all that NFL game film he studied while at USC was him playing Dwayne Jarrett in Madden 2006.

and yet VY had weeks of practice and Matt just a few days. Wonder which one looks more pro ready

amd while we are at it lets just throw in Cutler's first pro game numbers:
16 for 22 192 yards and a touchdown
Looks like the most overrated is off to the best start.

But I thought Leinart played in a Pro-Style offense at USC and "watched NFL game film" to prepare. That should be enough, right? He stuggled his first game out, period.
Cutler's #'s are inflated because he's playing against 2nd and 3rd team defenses and teams that aren't known for their defense (Detroit and Tennessee).
Take everyone's big pre-season #'s with a grain of salt.
Tony Romo isn't ready to start just because he threw for over 200 yards and had a good game against Seattle.

wait vy has played only vs 2nd and 3rd string as well, so that means what?
and matt looked alot better throwing the ball than young has yet. they are saying that he will get to play with the starters next game if that happens it will be interesting.

Leinart looked good on his first series and that was it. He stunk the place up for the rest of the time he played.
New England isn't the defensive powerhouse they used to be either.
All I've said about VY's game tonight is that it was an improvement over last week and it was against a better team too.
If you want to compare VY to Cutler, lets take a look:
Vince Young:
- Opponents: New Orleans and Denver
- Stats: 15/30, 181 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT - 8 rushes, 47 yards, 1 TD
He's had about 3 quarters of play.
Jay Cutler:
- Opponents: Detroit and Tennessee
- Stats: 22/34, 291 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT - 1 rush, 0 yards, 0 TD
He's had about 4 quarters of play.
Cutler has had more P/T, played worse defenses, and has better backup players.

Leinart did alot better tonight playing with the first team offense.
15/21, 144 yards, 1 TD 0 INT
2 sacks for -7 yards
Didn't hurt he got to throw to Fitzgerald and Boldin.
The real story was Brian Griese coming into the game in the 4th quarter and immediately driving the Bears down the field for a TD. At one point he was 9/10 for over 100 yards passing!
Griese ended up going 10/14, 131 yards 1 TD 0 INT with the 2nd/3rd stringers.
I think Rex Grossman just lost his job after going 13/21, 117 yards, 0 TD 1 INT with the 1st team offense.
Thomas Jones didn't impress either with 4 carries for only 3 yards.

I didn't say he was ready to be a starter. He only played against the Bears 1st team 'D' for a partial quarter. His first series was a 3 and out.
Mike Williams and Dwanye Jarrett can't hold Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin's jockstraps.
I read on goTitans.com that VY will probably come in some time in the 2nd quarter.

a lot of all pro qb's go 3 and out time to time, admit it he is closer to being a stud in the nfl than vince is

The only way Leinart gets in is because of an injury to Kurt Warner.
It is a foregone conclusion that Volek is merely a placeholder for Vince Young until they get to the Houston Texans game, after that time its all Young's.
After watching Brian Greise suck ass with Denver, I hope he does well with Chi-town because he's got the tools to be a top 10 QB in the NFL. My only big beef with him (and David Aebischer) is their lack of emotion.

The fact you are that ignorant is really amazing. Both Vince and Matt are going to do well in the NFL. Dude stop being the master hater!

I'm not hating. Thats the truth. Kurt Warner is better than Billy Volek.
Unless Kurt Warner is hurt or retires, Leinart is going to ride the pine during the regular season.
Billy Volek has until the Titans play the Texans before Vince Young is the starter.

why would that be? I don't understand why you pick that game?
volek is the better qb and gives them the best chance to win.

The Titans owner, Bud Adams, has stated he wants Vince Young ready to start by the time they play Houston.
Volek hasn't shown anything in pre-season to distance himself from Vince Young. His only edge is that he's started a regular season game before and Vince hasn't.
2006 Pre-Season:
Billy Volek: 24/38, 266 yards, 0 TD 1 INT
4 sacks, 29 yards lost
0 rushes, 0 yards, 0 TD
Vince Young: 21/40, 277 yards, 0 TD 1 INT
4 sacks, 23 yards lost
10 rushes, 61 yards, 1 TD
Volek has been playing with the 1st team offense while Young has been stuck with 2nd and 3rd stringers.

preseason stats don't mean shit, it all comes down to what you can do when it counts and voleck has proven he can produce.

Produce? I don't call a 3-7 record as a starter producing.

Dude settle down VY will become the starter for Tennessee, maybe not on your time schedule, I just think it is funny you are so concerned with him. How is Ricky Williams doing, why are you reporting his stats? I figure being a QB that is not on the Cowboy shows just how ate up you really are, shut up already.

Bledsoe is doing just what I expected him to do. Thats why I've got him on my fantasy team.
All I'm saying here is that Billy Volek has done nothing so far in pre-season to distance himself from Vince Young. The only reason he's going to be the starter is because he has NFL game starts under his belt.

but that is a dumb statement, if vy is better then they would start him, you start the guy that gives you the best chance to win

That is a valid point and the teams know it is not a good idea to simply toss a rookie on the field because just like college they need time to mature into the offenses and learn the playbooks. It essentially takes a QB at least two years to get comfortable with the play book in the NFL and understand the defenses and how to audible and react to them. The hardest thing I had to coach my QB's for at the Jr. High level when I coached was reading the defense and undertanding to check off at least the first two recievers before tossing the ball out there.

Just to prove Billy Volek isn't the answer is that the Titans are going to sign Kerry Collins pending a physical.

Billy Volek or VY...what the hell difference does it make? Neither QB will get that sorry ass team in to the playoffs this year.
