Curious to know what the best way is to hook up an Ipod to me car...I have seen how people have that cable that runs out that just plugs in but that is all...anything else out there?
There are many ways to connect an iPod to a car stereo. There are adapters that plug into some factory radios so you have a clean audio signal, the cable can maintain the battery power of the iPod, and you control the iPod from the car stereo. Aftermarket car audio manufacturers have started adding iPod controllers to their radios that operate like I described above and some aftermarket radios have Aux input capability that allows you to plug the audio signal into the deck for the best sound and maintain the battery. You can also use a hardwired FM modulator with any FM car radio and have a direct conection to the radio. FM modulation will not sound as good as direct input but it is better than the next alternative. Last and least is wireless FM modulation. This option transmits the signal to your FM radio wirelessly and is the worst option IMO. Poor sound quality, static, stronger FM signals blocking your signal, etc are all part of the fun.
If you post the year, make, and model of your car if you are using the factory radio or brand and model of aftermarket radio, someone here can tell you what is available. Alpine has the fastest, best iPod control as far as aftermarket radios goes, IMO.
Expect to pay around $50-299 installed depending upon everything.
There is also a video iPod control that allows you to play video from your iPod on your car video system.
have to dispute the alpine being the best. Clarion has a very nice feature. Kenwood is good, but def. lacks the control alot of other radios have. The best on the market is in the valor line with built in Ipod control. Simply the best ive seen and fastest. They have stepped way ahead of the game.

Are you talking about the 420 or 422i? There is a big difference between the two.

that is what i did, and it sounds good, but i did loose some siclge for my regular stations.
also, if you factory radio has a tape deck, i know most don't, but you can also use one of those things people used to use to hook portible CD playes up.

What's the best price you can give me to install a IVAW-200 and PXA-701 under my passenger seat in my Cobra? I wouldn't need it hooked up, just installed... I would be running RCAs and amps later...

I like the IPOD controller built into my Jensen VM9021TS. Works excellent and has awesome user interface if you want to go the route of aftermarket double-din touch screen TV/DVD player. Plus its cheap too. Less than 600 on Ebay all day long. I actually got my local audio shop to price match one.
