I took the 4 88s out and put 4 30s in . With the 88s it had a 1 39 60ft and ran 90s @116mph but felt like it was out of motor at the top of the track i only have a 350 ci with a glide. Do you think it helped or hurt ?

What Tire and stall? I shft at 6800 trap at 6400 w/ sbc and glide and 4.86's. But have a 14x32x15. With 9x30x15 still only at 6700 :confused:

If you do the math the MPH and RPM don't sound right, that is why I'm saying you may have a problem, tranny slipage, tach off ? Just doesn't sound right by the numbers you should be at 6400 RPM - 116 MPH. :confused:

I had 4.88s with my 434 and every time i changed gears it slowed down. i tried 56s,30s, and 4.10s. I lost a tenth with the 4.30s and almost 2 tenths with the 4.10s. Small blocks just don't have the top end charge that big blocks do.
Do what you can to make them 60'. since you have a 350 i would try 5.13s

no thats plenty fast and i also under stand that something that is making that much power is capible of over coming a gear like a 373 and that you would need a short gear to slow the rotation of the tires down so that it will hook . and in the case of a car that makes tha much power if it did break the tires loose with a 355-or 373 you would never be able to get it to stop spining when it did break loose.
If i have to explain it more than this then you dont get it any ways .

It does not matter how much power you have when you are at 7200 RPM w/ a 30 tall tire and 4.88 gears you should be doing about 130 MPH. Either the converter, tranny, or tach have a prob. :rolleyes:

:o I know, I changed tranny low gear and tires and went from a 1.28 to a 1.38 and added 130 hp. Just don't have the gearing for the 60 ft. :(

Put a ladder bar set up and you'll go, those trucks are ok with the leaf springs but I picked up 3 mph with the swap.
