I'll be honest, I had no idea I was going to have so much trouble with the II and all the parts to make it all work. I am tired of spending so much time on the car and making very little progress. Every part I have bought there has been a catch to it some where down the road.

Just to name a couple, the frame fits perfect but the people who sold it to me forgot to mention that you had to cut on the firewall to make the motor fit. I cut the firewall and patched it up but it's just the fact that I had to waste an hour to do it. Not to mention pulling the motor and tranny out about 12 times with in an hour. Not fun!

The people who had my car to mini tub it took 3 weeks to do it instead of 3 days, tires still dont fit and I had to waste 2 days cutting and trimming the fenders to make room. They want me to bring my car back this winter.........NO!

The damn pistons I bought that are made specificaly for the wierd ass heads I have that cost nearly 700 bux still had to be notched for the damn plugs. BULLSHIT again.

Then the damn tranny crossmemeber thats made to fit anything from a T350 to a damn 6 speed didnt fit. Wasted another hour drilling holes for it to fit.

Today I wsated a whole day working on some headers that were supposed to fit but didnt, now I have to spend some more money. I am thinking now I should have just paid cash for a new Vette and been done with this shit!

Not any of these are major items to deal with but its just all the tideous work that has to go in this BS that makes it all work. These are not the only items that have came up but are the only ones that came to mind. The car looks great and is coming along nicely. Just alot of BS to go along with it. I'll post up some pics tonight or tomorrowof the progress.

Whats wrong, thats the process with building any custom car!

Custom doesn't come easy...

that's the way it always is when you're building something one-off... you use custom/exotic shit, you've always gotta redesign the damn thing to get it to fit! LOL!

I can't say that it'll be worth it in the end, but it'll be damn fun, and next time you build a hot rod, you'll be able to do it that much quicker (or if you're smart, you'll buy one that's already done ;)

I got an idea why don't you post on a forum and bitch about it, that will make it all better, LOL.

Well its the simple fact that all this shit cost top dollar and it fits like poopoo! Its all bolt on BS that obviously doesnt bolt on or fit right. Whats funny os when you call them to vent about it they say well your the first one in a long time who's had any trouble......

As for me going and buying one, it takes all the fun out of it, thats the way the Camaro was and I never really felt like it was MY car. Like I said it just sucks when you pay so much money for all the best stuff and you still have to go and re-work some of thier parts.

And actually ProTrash, it does! ;)

#1 rule of thumb when it comes to race cars. The more shit cost the worst it fits. Try spending $5000 on a sheetmetal intake that doesn't fit and then you have to spend another 600 for spacers and wait a month. Pay $12,000 for a tranny that you have to spend another 800 on just to make it shift and then ends up costing you another 1300 to fix the car so it will fit. Spend 2800 for a block that you have to spend a week grinding on just to make the crank and rods fit. Spend $800 on a msd ox that requiers you to have to buy a lap top to use it. WELCOME TO RACING

wait, now it's fun? I thought you were getting pissy and saying you should have just bought a vette?

trust me, I know the feeling, thinking about buying a vette or a new diesel ram, but I can't quite bring myself to do it

If this shit was easy, women and children would be doing it.

All the effort you spend crying, you could have had it done already.

YEP, been there >done that, don't forgetthe headers you spend $1200.00 for then spend two days with a dye grinder and a hammer make custom notces on. ect. ect. All because we want to go fast? Who knows. As the old saying goes - Buy one don't build one, it's cheaper.

Well I have been in the racing scene for over 8 years now and this car by far is the biggest pain in my ass, its nice as hell the way it sits right now. If I knew what I knew now I would have never chosen the rout of the BBC. Oh well, when its done, its done. I dont like much! ;)

If you have a bolt in front frame a big block should fit fine.
Now the headers you would be better off have a set built.

Well the clip fits fine, the firewall had to be cut where the E brake is notched. It was a minor fix!

thats why people bring that stuff to me. LOL! i am constantly having to deal with that kind of bullshit. it seems like everytime you change something you have to back up 5 steps before. it'll be worth it in the end. be patient. ITS A RACE CAR! :D

ernie didn't mock it up with the rear end and tires you were wanting to use? what size tire are you trying to fit?

Think THAT is bad? Try shoe horning a LSX into a Datsun 240Z! Very little aftermarket to begin with and what little there is, is VERY expensive and like your parts, hardly fits worth a crap. On top of that, Im back halfing the car. You think they make a prewelded back half kit? Nope so I got to and to make it, even more interesting, the standard 4 link bars are too long so they will end up in the seat area so I have to shorten them down and get them re-threaded or move the seats up and run a aluminum dash which I wont do. To top it all off Im having to do rust repair as I find it. This car has fought me from the the beginning!

So all in all, I feel for ya cause Im in the same hell.

He sub-ed it out to a Guy in Wylie named Danny, he said he had the old rear end out and swore the tires fit and what not but he didnt. He also claimed to have the 29.5x10.5 under the car and said that there was no need to cut the body cause they fit......and didnt. I am not saying anything bad about Ernie because he didnt do it, his solution to "FIX" the problem was to let him have it back this winter and fix it.

Thanks man, I am going to put the front clip on it tomorrow. I was going to wait till I get my headers but they are the fender well headers so it doesnt matter now. I have to cut holes in the inner pannels for them to go through. More money :(

My next nova will be a 68-. It is hard to fit anything into these cars. No fenderwheels and no room underhood. Here is a pic of my buddies 67. 355,6speed,410 gears.

No, I don't think it has been drove in the winter. It wouldn't be any problem to do. Probably left it that way because it looks cleaner. Here is another pic.

My dad has a lathe, and could shorten and re-thread them, if you do have to go that route. My dad has been a machinist for 30+ years, and has his own Bridgeport mill, and lathe, so he knows what he's doing. ;) Just let me know any time, and I'll talk to him. :)
