Every time i turn on my laptop and get into windows xp my System32 folder always opens by itself after Windows loads. Im trying to find the autoexe.bat but there isnt one. i remember back in the olden days you could use this .bat file and edit it; i used to make it loop in highschool on computers when i was bored and among other things. does anyone have any other imput as to how i can find out whats causing my System32 folder to open by itself???

Try the registry....

Look in HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\run

Also, look in your startup menu. START > PROGRAMS > Startup

Its possible. Go to that registry key and back it up. Then try to manually delete it. If it doesn't delete, then right click on the key and select Permissions. Take ownership of the key and then delete it.

Remember, BACK IT UP FIRST.

If the key reappears after a reboot, then the malware is still on your system.
