sound like tha poopy, hit pretty hard in the right setup, and will take a pretty large amount of power.

Mine lasted 48 hrs behind a JL 500/1 and an AC EQT. Sounded good before it took a shit.

L7 is rated at about 1500 watts max... and that JL pushes 500 rms... only a fukin idiot could blow that sub in that setup...

The 500/1 puts out 600W RMS @ 12V . Max ratings don't mean poop. RMS is where its at.

EW, of course u are right... and i hate it! but still a 12" kicker has an RMS of 750 (i think) and a 15 @ about 1000watts leaving at least a 150 watt cussion for distortion and clipping while still stayin in the RMS range...
(this is assuming he got a 12... why the hell would you power and amp that has an RMS close the the subs max anyways?...)
IMO, you want the amp's RMS power output to be very close to the woofer's RMS power handling so the amp has enough power to sufficiently drive the sub without clipping. You can run any woofer with less power if you set the amp gain (using different measuring devices) to prevent the amp from going into clipping. You will have less volume but better sound and longer woofer life.
